if this is the case, what is the benefit of using two 555s on an NDS - with one 555, I assume the two outputs are used to feed each "side" of the NDS.

In his opinion ... and experience the XPS dr was optimal for the 272......
One thing to know is that you have to use the S-XPS Burndy cable with the 272. This essentially does the same thing the two cables do into the NDS, i.e. you get 555 power to both digital and analog sections.
My dealer believes that the 555 does add something over the XPS and since I already have a 555PS DR, he's sending me an S-XPS cable to use with the 272.
I'm selling my NDS and planned to sell the 555PS. My dealer convinced me to keep it and use it with the 272.
I'm waiting on the new cable so I can't speak to what adding the PS will accomplish. I'm also waiting for a new 250DR and Dynaudio C1's.

Any update Bud?

The S-XPS cable will arrive tomorrow. I'm not going to try the 555PS on the N272 until I get everything.
The amp was shipped Monday to my dealer. When he gets it he will ship both the amp and the speakers to me. I expect/hope to get everything late next week.
The dealer has been burning in the Dynaudio C1's while waiting for the 250. Everything downstream except the speakers will be new and need breaking in, i.e. the amp, the speaker cable and the Super Lumina IC.
Meanwhile, I've been making do with headphones and my Mu-So. The Mu-So works well for background music while I'm reading.
I have to confess that I'm experiencing some buyer's remorse with all of this. I planned to go with Harbeth P3's and a small Naim amp. In fact I did buy the P3's off eBay two days before I decided to jump in with both feet. The P3's and stands are still sitting in unopened boxes.
Once I get everything I'll dismantle the stand and re-install/cable everything from scratch. The first thing I'll play is Jazz at the Pawn Shop.

I am very curious to know 555ps with 272 impressions as a New 272 owner
So am I keep posting
I am very much enjoying my 555DR on the 272. It gets better and better every time I listen to it.
Sound stage seems to continue to improve, and I continue to hear more detail in tracks I have been listening to for years.
I have also found that the SQ of Tidal has much improved with the 555ps and I am listening to it much more than previously.
i didn't try an XPS DR so cannot make comparisons, but I can definitely say my (used) 555DR was worth every penny of the £4K I paid for it. I think it is worth every penny of the full retail price, but that would have been a hard sell to the inhouse CFO!!!
Based on my comparing 272/xps/250DR vs NDX/XPS/282/HC/250dr - I'd say the 252 configuration will offer considerably more music, resolution etc but of course at considerably more cost. However, I wonder whether NDS/555/282/SC(?) may be a better option?

Lindsay
I can confirm that NDS / 555DR / 282 / SCDR is a VERY good option / combinaiton ineeed. So good, that following a 2 week home demo, a 3 week separation anxiety and having battled with myself for the last 3 weeks I picked up my new NDS this morning....

Really??!!!
Does your question relate to my opinion on the VFM of the 555DR or my inability to get a £6k power supply purchase signed off?? ![]()

Wow!
A new Paridigm, no longer, Analog TT vs Digital CD, no longer, Digital CD vs Digital Streaming.
But a choice, depending on Music and Mode!
Linn's LP 12
Naim's NDS
Naim's Cdx2

Sign-off mate. The VFM debate is nebulous I'm afraid. To discerning folk like you and me it makes absolute sense but for the proletariat even £200 for speakers makes no sense

Life is difficult indeed - the choices one needs to make on daily basis.....

Congratulations on your NDS!
Now Enjoy your Music! (The Why)
Allante93!
Thank you Allante93.
Without sounding melodramatic: when I first put the NDS on the rack I thought - hmmm, what's all the fuss about...
But when the time came to give it back after two weeks of demoing, and my old NDX made it back to the rack, I said to myself: sh*%t - someone took my music away.
Let's enjoy the music!
Adam
