Naim vintage system
Posted by: Naimark on 11 April 2016
Hello everyone,
I have recently recapped my nac 32.5 for a secondary naim system.
I would like to buy a power amplifier to pair to my preamp.
At the moment I prefer without a dedicated power supply.
Probably, in that case, 32.5+hc+250 was the best solution, but too expensive..
What do you think about nap 140 cb?
best regards,
mark

The 140 is a great amp and will go really well with your 32.5. I have very fond memories of mine driving Linn Kans many moons ago.
Could you please provide me a sort of ranking on nap cb series?
1) 250
2) 140
3) 110
4) 90
Something like this?

You have them in descending power order.
However, it is quite possible to prefer a lower powered amp that is apparently easier to listen to.
There is no absolute here. If you have heavy to drive speakers then go for the 250.
Easy-drive speakers [like Royds], and a 110 may be the first choice ...
ETC.

Ok thanks, I would like to built a secondary system around 32.5 and the new power amp, and after I will think about loudspeakers.
Ant suggestions to complete my system are welcome, also regarding loudspeakers and source.
thanks
For the full classic system: Linn with Ittok and cartridge of your choice, 32.5, Hicap, 250 and Kans. A 140 would be ok, but Kans really need a 250.
" Kans really need a 250 "- fully agree. A pair of 135's would be better yet ! ![]()

i bought a UQ2. (full system). 30 years from now, i will have a classic. LOL
now, seriously, nice System you have there Naimmark.
like the sugestion of HH.
Don't forget a 160 which, if serviced, can still deliver a wonderful sound.
I haven't heard the NAP 160 but many people rate it very highly. Personally I have had a 32/140, 32/Hi-Cap/140 and 72/Hi-cap/250. All very good sounding. The Hi-Cap was more significant than upgrading to a 250.
