Hi
Contemplating the purchase of a UnitiQute2 for my desktop system driving Neat IOTA speakers which I currently have in use with a Sonos Connect amp.
I have 2000 plus CD’s all ripped in FLAC via XLD (I use Mac’s) to a Qnap TS221 NAS, these stream wirelessly at present to 6 Sonos zones, I do have Cat 5e wired into the house and will switch over to wired rather than wireless at some point in the near future.
I fully realise that Sonos is lower quality than Naim, but as any Sonos user will tell you it all works wonderfully well.
Without first purchasing a Naim streamer how can I tell if my XLD rips, in fact my entire music library will function correctly on the Naim system, i.e. will the artwork appear correctly and that I'm happy with the Naim ap etc etc.?
If I add UPNP server software to my Qnap,(MinimServer? Asset?) and download the Naim app to my iPhone/iPad will I then be able to see how the folders are presented, or does it need to have access to the actual Naim streamer?
When I add UPNP server software to the Qnap will it in anyway interfere with or disrupt the Sonos system which works so well?
Would appreciate any help.

If the metadata is ok, the albums will appear ok on the app. The app sees what the streamer sees, so you need the streamer. There's no reason why the upnp server would interfere with Sonos.

A friend of mine has a Linn main system streaming from a QNAP with Asset, he has Sonos in kitchen, dining room & bedroom & they don't interfere with each other.
Other things that might be important (or not) - A Linn streamer works the same a Naim so if a Linn doesn't interfere, neither will Naim. The Sonos uses its own wireless system & the Bridge is ethernet wired to the wireless router. The hifi system is all ethernet wired; QNAP to Netgear Switch to Linn DS & ethernet from Switch to router

If you use a UPnP media server, like Asset or Minim, it uses the metadata (title, artist, album, album artist, etc.) to serve your files and tracks, just like Sonos. For album art, it depends on the UPnP server. Some require you to have a separate image in your folder with the music files called "folder.jpg", some can read embedded album art.

Thank you all for your help, my album art isn't in a separate folder as far as I am aware, XLD either finds it or I add it to the window provided if it can't before I rip to FLAC. Each album folder has only the FLAC files and the XLD rip summary log. So I presume that the artwork is impeded in the files? Will Minimsever or Asset be able to display the artwork in that case, I really don't want to have to add a folder to each album?
