NDX - strange remote behaviour

Posted by: nodrog on 21 April 2016

I have just purchased an NDX and had it shipped over to me here in Tokyo. Am streaming from a Qnap TS-231...all going well, but my remote handset is playing up.

Three days ago the remote stopped working on the NDX. I tried to fix it using the 'aux', 'i', 'dis' reset code; checked the batteries and their contacts, turned off and on etc, but no joy, it just wasn't working, even though it was still able to control the volume and mute on the 252. All buttons on the front of the NDX, and the Naim app worked fine. I contacted my dealer Infidelity (in Hampton Wick, thanks guys!) and together we were looking at ways to fix the problem with input from Naim. In fact I was worried I might have to return the unit to the factory for the fix. Last night I tried the remote again, having left it for some hours, with all settings unchanged from the previous time, and lo and behold, the thing starts working perfectly again!

It's still working half a day later, which is a relief, but I'm curious as to whether anyone else has had a similar experience with this, or another Naim remote. Any problems I've had in the past have been 100% down to batteries and battery contacts, but I know this wasn't the case here.

Cheers

I had a similar problem with a remote for an Exposure CD player, but that eventually died.  I hope this isn't going to be the case for you.
I should add that Naim's build quality is far higher than Exposure's, so there's still plenty of hope that it's just a temporary gremlin.
