24 hours from wine and music - just 26.2 miles in between

London marathon tomorrow - Start at 10, finish about 2:15 (hopefully), an amazing burger at Joe Allen's in Covent Garden, a long awaited beer - and then home to wine and music!

Any other forum members taking part?

Good luck Mike! I did it in 1989 and enjoyed every second. A real life highlight!

I hope it goes well Mike. I thought about it a couple of years ago but decided it would be a step too far for me.

Let us know your time.

Well crap .. this is the 35th year I've missed running in this marathon .. maybe next year.

Did 'mine' in 2000, but my knees requested no repeat performance.

Enjoy it, a fantastic day in the big smoke

Finished in 4:13:22. A fair bit off my pb, but 16 mins quicker than New York in November

Well done Mike! The time's not important, it's the joy of the occasion that lingers.

Thanks guys, you're absolutely right, I loved every minute, I ran at pace I enjoyed, and the crowds were amazing.

Enjoy the wine and music, never tempted myself but my wife's sister did the Dublin City marathon in 2009 so I have some idea of the achievement and how well deserved a draft of vintage that has been cooled a while in the deep delved earth is.

Congratulations,Mike.  Like TonyM, I ran mine in 1989 (as a 40th birthday present to myself) in Portland, and the temp at 7am starting time was already in the mid 70's.  I was well prepared and I finished it but it literally took everything I had on that day and included multiple unanticipated stops at aid stations for additional Vaseline on my feet due to severe blisters from the hot pavement.  Temp was high 80's by the time I shuffled across the line.  Learned a few things that day.  Jeff A
