Art Dudley's Naim NAIT review in Stereophile

For anyone who might be interested Art Dudley's column in this month's Stereophile reviews a 'vintage' Naim NAIT, albeit one that has been updated. Some people will no doubt suffer coronary failure as a result of the potential blasphemy committed. AD does seem to remember Naim equipment with considerable fondness.

I think Art has always liked Naim gear although Stereophile doesn't give the brand much attention.  The AVOptics recap (rehab?) process is interesting - althought the cryogenic part seems a bit snake-oilish to me.

Without knowing much about the actual process used, I would worry about the  transformer cryo treatment causing separation of the potting from the windings or similar damage due to any differential thermal coefficients over those dimensions.

A nice write up by Art Dudley.  Makes me long a bit for the Listener days and maybe my own Nait 2 at some point.  His five reasons why some old gear becomes highly sought after were amusing as was his comparison of the size of old and new Naim boxes.  Chris West of AV Options serviced my SNAXO a couple of  years ago.  Top notch work.
