NAS Drive Power Supply

I have a QNAP NAS and a Naim US.  Has anyone tried a separate power supply for QNAP/Synology NAS Drives?  I've seen that there are companies that produce them

If the NAS is decoupled from the US with a switch or some other active network interface and not on the same rack then there should be no appreciable gain in performance from a dedicated PS for a NAS on sound quality.

I haven't bothered to do this with my Synology NAS, as its only there to back up my US. I keep it well away from the hifi, on a separate mains circuit, and run it over WiFi, to give some isolation. I've used fibre optic LAN cables, which might be giving improved isolation of streamer, US and other stuff too.

I posted my exp on another thread this morning  .......... I've tried a linear (transformer/rectifier) PSU & did not hear any difference.  But the person who loaned it to me does have an audible difference on his system.   My NAS PSU (& other PSU's) is powered from a UPS & that has an isolation transformer & C&D mode filter chokes,  so that might make a difference   .......    I get the impression results vary & its not quite as simple as just a PSU change.

Yes - I have. If you email me directly (email is in my profile) I will give you all the details.

The new PSU stayed in my engine room. Does it sound any better? Don't know - I did not test. But at least I feel good about having a good PSU
