DC-1

i run a nd5-xs into the Naim DAC. To get it up and running I bought a 75ohm cctv coax cable bnc/bnc and I have to say that it sounds fab! (It cost £4)

anyone tried the DC-1 against a unbranded coax 75ohm cable?

listening to my system I fail to find anything obvious missing ... Ta

The DC-1 is a very good in an all Naim setup but you will need to try on to make sure it is for you.

Indeed you might want to try and compare in your own system but the outcome is inevitable. Some on these forum have gone to alternatives such as Chord and Vertex. They have always come back, for the very most, to the DC-1 that was developed for the nDAC.

Paul

Sounds like you're a happy camper who is enjoying his music. If it sounds fab and only cost £ 4 why worry about changing? Remember Paul, doubt is a very slippery slope.

For many Claus. You are an exception for the very best reason, the reason of your ears.

This being written, the Sarum Super is not really a cheaper alternative to the DC-1.

The DC1 is a good cable.. For me it worked well with the NDAC which it might have been optimised for ? However there are other excellent 75ohm cable and connectors out there, some not costing much... technically with BNCs these can be 75 ohm RF patch leads... so trust your ears.. as you have done. I am not using my DC1 right now, but it's there should I want it.

Thanks, all, for your responses. I knew where this was going... I'll have to try one out - and then post the comparison  with the current cable.

Do remember - quality of the digital transmission is important. Unfortuantely (for us) bits are not just bits when it comes to a music playback system.

Adam - i think the so called bits are so called bits argument has long since been discredited - its such a naive assertion in the applications we use.

Simon - glad to hear this. I can rest now

Hi Paul,

When the DC-1 first came out I borrowed one for an extended demo with my nDac, despite a positive bias to liking it I bought another make. Subsequently I tried it a couple more times but it never stayed.

Look forward to reading your opinion.
