Just a little observation after wrestling with a few tracks streamed from Unitiserve.
System is Unitiserve, 272, 250 (previously a Uniti).
The symptom is occasional tracks curtailed when streaming from Unitiserve. I first noticed this with Stuart McCallum the track Cigale would end abruptly at precisely the 08:31 but before the end of the track (I timed this so it indicates the track was playing slow!). When played via serial digital from the Unitiserve everything was fine and also the file played via a USB stick was fine.
As it was so rare I sort of just got on with it but recently another Hi-Res track exhibited the same issues so I decided to investigate further. I have no idea why I stumbled upon this setting but it worked.
Using nServe I navigated to UPnP settings and set it to Native and the problem went away. It was, by default, not set to that (I can't remember what I'm afraid). I can understand the potential for users who don't have 192 Dacs etc but I do think more should be made of these settings as they do have an effect on replay characteristics. I do know that not all dealers know about this particular setting so it's worth checking if you have similar problems with curtailed tracks.
On another note, I have to congratulate Naim on the 272 which some have seen fit to criticise as being an irrelevant product. Straight from the box it was a revelation and now, after a couple of weeks settling in I am finding it to be an extraordinary device. I have heard far more exotic Naim setups sounding less musical, dynamic and balanced than this and I can only begin to imagine how much better it will sound when an XPS is added. Having heard a friend's NDX, 282 , HiCap recently I am inclined to suggest the 272 gets alarmingly close indeed. Well done Naim on this rather special product.

DAUNT, is your 272 connected to your network by WiFi or hard-wired with Ethernet cable? The reason I ask is that when I first bought my NDX, I initially had it connected via WiFi and experienced similar problems to you with high-res music files. After installing an Ethernet cable my system has been rock solid.

My 272 and before that, the Uniti have always been part of a high quality wired network - indeed, there is a half de end network swotch adjacent to the Naim kit. I have had two or three routers at home since I started streaming and the glitches have always been there - well since those particular tracks bought that is.
There are no errors reported anywhere and in zany case I don't think any buffered in the kit would overrun to the extent of chopping 5-10 seconds of music,
Before changing the UPnP setting the affected tracks would play for exactly the published time but just not have completed as it were which would indicate they were running slow by around 1 second every minute.
It's all sorted now since making the setting change so I am not concerned - the reason is still a ,yesteryear to me but I'm sure there will be a simple explanation.

Daunt, is all of your firmware up to date? There was an issue a while ago where the time elapsed / time remaining data was not being reported correctly in the Naim App, I believe when transcoding. I can't quite remember if that was only in a beta test version or in a released version; the latter, I think. The result was as you see -- when the time ran out, the end of the track would not be played, as the player thought the track was over. If you're getting 'chopped' at the end of tracks, that sounds familiar to me.
So what was the 'wrong' transcoding setting you were using? Transcoding is part of this issue, as it effects how the elapsed time is calculated (I believe). Back when I experienced that 'bug,' it was only when transcoding.

Yep - Everything fully up to date - that has been my strategy from the outset with the Unnerve and the Uniti then 272. I haven't just been using the reported track length but also the track lengths published so to speak and on all occasions I have taken the serial out of the US and fed that to the pre-amp and everything plays to time (I ran a stopwatch to double check). So, theIn streamed the track length is still perfect even though it is truncated (therefore running slow in real time).
I can't remember what UPnP setting the US ships at to be honest but I think it may be Decode (maybe someone who hasn't checked these settings can let us know?).
The reason for posting was merely to alert people to this possibility and it is, I admit, a rare occurrence, only 3 or 4 tracks perhaps out of several thousand - it just happened to be a couple of favourites hence my journey to cure it.
