Radiohead new album download
Posted by: James L on 08 May 2016
Hello
Anyone tried the 24bit WAV download at US$19...?
I prefer having the CD where possible so it's almost worth waiting for the physical copy unless the hi-res option is stellar.
No, getting the Vinyl with the 16 bit WAV (which I'll burn to CDR until the 'actual' arrives...) looking forward to listening, the video made me want to watch the Wicker Man again.
- The 24 bit is only $13 from the Band's site http://www.amoonshapedpool.com/
The vinyl pack looks nice. But on 2 x 12", that's a fair bit of changing sides!
I just ordered the CD...
Yup, vinyl for the special listening, otherwise the CD will be played primarily, and digital copies while traveling. I just hope they put the Spectre 'promo' on the 2nd CD.
Just finished a headphone listening, nice lush orchestrals. Some 'old' songs on the album too. Will have to play on the main system tomorrow.

Hah, four changes. Safe to assume you don't rotate your tires yourself?
Two LPs seems a bit much for 11 tracks, but there are some longer songs that would amount to over 25 minutes of music on each side of a single LP. Probably best not to compromise the vinyl mastering by limiting the groove width, especially with today's heavy bass compression. It will be interesting to see if there is any difference in DR between the various formats.
Amidst all the discussions about how it has been released etc has anyone noted if it is actually any good?
Bruce
Yes, and first reaction last night was that it sounds much better than the Tidal stream, but I will have a proper listen tonight.
I may spring for vinyl too - sigh.

Really, really good. Better than KoL and up there with Kid A, Amnesiac and In Rainbows I reckon.
Tracks 3, 6, 8, 9 are OK. The rest leaves me indifferent. DR on the 24 bit digital download is shameful.
Yikes, DR5 and Burn the Witch DR3.
Having download probs. Paid my money and the link failed, help responded by resetting my account and now my log in does not work and it does not recognise my email address.
I await support response again
Hmm.

Well I think it sounds fantastic, and definitely intriguing. I'm just not sure I am engaged-a problem I have had with a lot of Radiohead albums. Maybe I need to really concentrate or listen with headphones to get it. I like the general mood more than on most of their albums-in fact it might prove be the most interesting thing they have done all round, certainly since Kid A.
Bruce
I tried it through streaming. Not convinced.
Dynamic sounding music for sure, put off with all the wailing on track 1 which put me right off.
Maybe have to give it another go...
He wails a fair bit. It is a Radiohead album!
His voice and obscure articulation is possibly my biggest problem with the band. I'd buy an instrumental album by these guys though-and in places this one feels quite cinematic with Jonny Greenwood's orchestration especially. Did you hear the track they submitted as a potential title track to the last Bond film? Lots of wailing. I actually wondered if they were being ironic.
Bruce
I was quite impressed with it on Tidal although I agree with the wailing. Some of the music was lovely though and I enjoyed it on the whole. SQ was pretty good on Tidal I thought
I downloaded the 24bit version (48Khz 24 bit) when it was released. No issues at all with SQ. A very enjoyable album and it's getting a lot of plays.

The sonic waves, the evocative images, the emotional connection...
Ok, I admit it: I am a big Radiohead fan, and am thoroughly enjoying this new album!
And for those who disagree, I say Burn the Witch!
Oh, cool. A new Radiohead album. Looking forward to this. Whingers can do their thing, always have, always will. Not sure why they think we might care.
We had PJ Harvey album this year, although i must admit it did not gel with me much so far, then the announcement of a Beth Orton disc and she has returned to folktronica. Big fan of Beth. And now some new Radiohead.
i have to say the the above three are probably the best represented artists in my collection from my era. I may have more Kate Bush, maybe
Pity my Conrad Johnson tube amp has been in the shop for weeks now. I will have to wait to hear this one properly.
Just downloading the 24-bit now. The $19 USD price (over $25 canuck-bucks) seems a little steep, perhaps. But I'm a huge fan and am looking forward to hearing it. Off for my Saturday club ride now, but will catch up with this over the weekend.

You and I have very similar tastes, it seems. Beth is an all-time favourite of mine. Yes, let the whiners whine. As long as Thom doesn't dance.
I like Thoms dancing. That is how singers should dance. Do your own thing. You have to lead and express yourself, not follow someone else's dance moved.
