Hifi Shops are evil!! ;)

Posted by: Stephanie Gelder on 14 May 2016

I wish I hadn't dropped one of my local Hifi shops an email.

i like my UnitiQute going into a nap200.

So it was really daft of me to email them about a 272 and get told I can have a demo one for a good price. arrrrgh.

They can right bastards that way.

Some people call them dealers, and that has a reason. We are addicted and they every now and then have exactly the right remedy. And as most of them are not hard sales it's even more addictive....

You won't regret the 272, or maybe you will

Ring Naim Addicts Anonymous. They are very kind.

Posted on: 14 May 2016 by Stephanie Gelder

Hahaha.

I didn't call Naim Anonymous ....

But, I do have a lovely ex demo three or so months old 272 now to go with my nap 200 and PMC twenty.23's

excited!!!!!!

Thank you Nottingham Hifi Centre :-)

.... Now dashing to ikea to see if I can find something for the Naims and our turntable

IKEA stuva £30 cut holes in back for cables :-) short term solution

Posted on: 14 May 2016 by Yetizone

Congrats on the purchase of the 272! Just curious, which Stuva units are you using?

Posted on: 14 May 2016 by Stephanie Gelder

When I'm on full client I'll post a pic, probably tomorrow but it's a small white box around 60cm tall and about 50cm deep. It was £20 for the unit and £10 for two shelves £5 each. It says Stuva Frame.

Bottom empty. Two shelves with 200 and 272 on, cut holes in the back behind each shelf for cables Then record player will go on top.

Familiar story. I phone my local to order a Snaxo. Duly put in order and pay deposit. Dealer phones back an hour later..."Oh dear" I think, "what's gone wrong now?". Nope... "Hi Mark, just had a thought. We've got a four month old Kore in. Customer is upgrading to Keel. Thought you might be interested". Well, good price etc etc. So now it's Snaxo, Kore and a new motor while I'm at it.

We can be so weak in the face of reasonable temptation.

I can resist anything but temptation, somebody famous probably said.

I never knew my PMCs had that sort of depth

Posted on: 14 May 2016 by DrMark

Well, if it makes you feel any better I am jealous, and I am sure I'm not alone, so you can enjoy that!

I'm sure that's a very nice upgrade!

Surely that should read "Stuva Fraim"?

Well let's see if this works...

Well Steph it's a damn mess but i like it!

Posted on: 18 May 2016 by hungryhalibut

Well done! I used PMC 23s for a short while when I first got my 272 and it sounded really super.

Posted on: 18 May 2016 by Bertie Norman

Good idea to leave a spare shelf - you can now add a power supply for the 272 - no doubt your (evil) dealer wil be happy to oblige.

Hah, that's what everyone said to me.

Please let us know how the 272/200 combo is. I'm considering this combo upgrade to my Uniti 2.

It's early days so far... but, it's awesome :-)

so much more control of my speakers.

Now all I have to do is pay it off over the next two years and then look at a bigger amp (hehe)

That's similar to Yogi Berra saying baseball is

90% mental and the other half is physical.
