Earth - HDX or nDAC

Wondering where theoretically the earth should be established for an HDX-nDAC-202 setup. It sounds best to me on the DAC, but trying to get my head around if the HDX or the DAC is the 'source'.

The HDX is the source, but it doesn't matter which you earth as long as it's just one of them.  So going with whichever one sounds best to you is certainly the right thing to do.

Dumb question time but can someone please tell me how to go about earthing my system?

I have an LP12 with an earth cable that goes from the LP12 to my Stageline; or perhaps it goes from the LP12 to my 282 (I'm writing this from memory).  Whichever it is, the cable connects to an obvious earth thing so there's no doubt what to do.

My other sources are a Bluesound Node 2 and a Simple Audio Roomplayer Plus.  Neither of these has any kind of earth cable or connection point.

Perhaps earthing the LP12 is all I need to do?

To the OP - I take it that the HDX is connected via S/PDIF to the Naim DAC. This coaxial connection is transformer coupled so the DAC itself will be the 'earthed' source and you set the Ground switch to chassis. The HDX earth switch shouldn't make a difference (although worth trying both settings just to be sure)

Endless - sounds like you have got it correct.
