HDX ripping problem

Posted by: dave marshall on 23 June 2011

Hi Chaps,

Just had a problem ripping the new Seasick Steve album to my HDX.

"CD detected" followed by the usual "checking for free space" screens appear ok, but when the expected "AMG lookup successful" screen appears, the disc stops spinning, and is then ejected.

No video content on the disc as far as I can see, but the HDX definitely doesn't like this one.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers,

Dave.

Dave

Assuming the internet connection is working, have you tried re-booting and trying again?

Dave,

Usually a re-boot will solve the problem and sometimes it just needs time to settle after re-starting.

Also, have you changed the function of the HDX's cd drawer from ripping to CD player at all recently?

I did this recently, used it as a CDP but when I changed back to ripping mode, it did exactly as you describe.

I worked out though, that I had changed the mode from ripping mode to CDP mode by the browser controls on my laptop, but then I tried to change it back to ripping via the front touchscreen on the HDX.  This, I think caused the problem.  As when I then changed it back and forwards again using the browser software, it worked fine again.

So you could try changing to CDP and back to ripping again and see if that resets it.

Haven't had a disc that wouldn't rip yet.

Good Luck.

Yep had this - it is a bug in the HDX software. Reboot cures it

Hi Guys,

No luck, I'm afraid, and subsequent rips have been faultless...........points to the CD itself I guess.

Any ideas what could be hanging up the HDX?

Will contact the Kremlin to see if they've come across this before.

Cheers,

Dave.

Probably some sort of copy protection ...

What version of software are you running? I recall something similar to this being fixed in a relatively recent release....current release is 1.5a SP2

I had the same problem with Neil Young's Le Noise CD–the update resolved it.
