ISIO drivers on a Mac?

Posted by: tonym on 24 June 2011

Is it possible using one of the PC emulator programs or even Boot Camp?

I ask because I want to use a USB to I2S convertor that currently only works with a PC and said ISIO drivers.

Or is there something fundamental in the Mac architecture that prevents this?

Does it not just work with OS X like the Empircal Audio Off-Ramp.

Sorry don't the answer to original question as I only ever run Windows when its been imposed on me at work. However, can't see any reason why it would not run using Boot Camp unless there is something odd about Windows that means it can't run on the hardware.

Good luck, Guy

Thanks for your suggestion Guy. I have something similar to the device you mention but for reasons unclear to me the device I want to try is, dare I mention it, a DIY bit of kit that utilises the power supply on the DAC itself and requires a pesky windows driver.

The difficulty in using the I2s output from USB/SPDIF convertors of the type in your photograph is that you've got to use cabling under 10 cm long.

I doubt it...  the only way to get this device to work with Apple hardware would be to boot into Windows using Bootcamp - and then you basically have a Windows PC.
