Looking for a Tusk...
Posted by: Foot tapper on 25 June 2011
My copy of Fleetwood Mac's Tusk has pretty much worn out. I really don't know why, as I only bought it in 1980...
There is supposed to be a very good remastered CD version, released in 2004, but I cannot find any new vinyl versions for sale. I have looked on places like Amazon, HMV, Diverse Vinyl etc.
Does anyone know if/where I could find a new replacement on vinyl?
Thanks in anticipation, FT
Their are a few on amazon .
You'd have though 'Rhino' would have sold a good Tusk

Debs,
Thought?
Thanks Debs
Hi Stu, looks like I'll have to go for a good condition second hand one then.
FT
I misread the OP. I thought you where "Looking for some TUSH."
Thanks Debs

Hit the charity shops.
Big H found me a good copy a few years ago at one of his.
amazon sellers are worth a look though because you can send it back..

Thanks Fatcat,
Tusk is a work of genius that will stand the test of time, while the attraction of your caption will surely fade with time, as gravity takes its inevitable toll on those involved...
I know you're specifically asking about the vinyl, but for what it's worth I have the 2004 remastered CD and it is indeed very, very good - in fact I think it's better than my original vinyl. And despite what some reviews said, it does have the full version of "Sara".

Thanks Philip
I have just ordered the 2004 remastered CD, so look forward to it when it arrives....oh and when the Naim service dept finally get round to looking at my CDS3 and 52/supercap. Life's not so bad though, as the trusty old 32.5/hicap2 have been pressed into service and the system still sings like a bird with the turntable.
In the meantime, I am building up the courage to open the sealed box that contains my VPI record cleaner. I have had it for circa 6 months but never used it. Perhaps Tusk would be a good first album to try on it...
Warner Bros (Made in W. Germany) 7599-27395-2.
A strange album for me. The lovely songs written by 'the girls' being interspersed and spoiled by Lyndsey Buckingham's somewhat incongruous and self-indulgent numbers.
For me, he was learning his solo trade here, and got it right on his 'Out of The Cradle' album which I really like.
And why, why, why has the excellent eponymous 'Buckingham Nicks' album never had an official release on CD?
John.
Hi John
The funny thing is that, like you, I tolerate the Lyndsey Buckingham songs (seems like he is showing off to me) because both Stevie Nicks' and Christine McVie's songs are sublime. They make the album.
I wasn't aware of the Buckingham Nicks album, so thanks for mentioning it. I'll look out for a copy on vinyl
FT
Hi FT,
I had to seek out a copy of the 'Buckingham Nicks' LP. I love it, because I can hear a nascent 'Rumours' in there. I use http://www.musicstack.com/ for that hard to find stuff.
Beware if you see a CD of 'BN' advertised for sale - It'll be a needle-drop CD-R. As I said; for some reason there has never been an official CD release of the album. Maybe the 'Rumours rift' was too deep to be mended!
Good listening.
John.
John, thanks for the introduction to musicstack. It's a new one for me and appears to have a huge stock
