Uniti streaming

I am new to streaming and want to get the best out of my uniti, what would be the best option? I am considering a NAS box but would this be best connected into the router? Unfortunately the uniti is down stairs so not connected via ethernet to network, would the network adaptors you plug into mains be a worthwhile investiment?

Yes, plug the NAS into the router.  If your Uniti won't connect wirelessly then Homeplug Ethernet adapters would be a good idea.  Some people say they inject noise into the mains that affects sound quality, but I've had no problem with them.

Noogle ta for advise

Would it better though to have the UNITI connect wirelessly or using the mains ethernet adaptors?

Also whilst i have your expert attention what would be the best format to use to download and play high quality music files, bearing in mind i have tons of CD's that i will be ripping?

On a good wifi network shouldn't be a problem - my server is wired to an Airport Extreme but the Uniti operates via wifi - no issues at all. Rip to flac.

+1 for FLAC.  I use dbPoweramp for ripping.

Yep, rip to flac using dbpoweramp, results are really good and you can then browse by artist, album etc. Cheers

I have downloaded DBPoweramp and its really good thanks.

What FLAC level should i be using Level 5 being default, should it be uncompressed?

Also my uniti is not picking up FLAC files in my music folder?

I have used uncompressed setting. When you load cds use meta tab at the top in ripper to generate metadata. I have done exactly this and my uniti recognises all data. I am using synology dsj211j Nas by the way which is quite good.
