UK Radio Listening Data - Q1 2016

RAJAR have publish the latest UK radio listening trends, http://www.rajar.co.uk/ Unfortunately (again) they have some inconsistency & changed the reports trend format. I'm not really sure if the Q1 2016 data for AM/FM is correct or the Q4 2015 is wrong (I suspect the latter) unless the UK has gone mad buying FM radio's, so maybe best to disregard the AM/FM percentage change.
| Q4 2015 | Q1 2016 | Change | ||
| AM/FM | 50.7% (???) | 55.9% | 10.26% (???) | |
| DAB | 27.7% | 30.9% | 11.55% | |
| DTV | 5.0% | 5.4% | 8.00% | |
| Online | 6.8% | 7.8% | 14.71% |
Various Others – Phone, Tablet etc. I've not included but if its included with all the digital platforms it places that at 44.1%
DAB set ownership has made the largest gain since 2009 going from 49% in Q1 2015 to 55.7% in Q1 2016
Whatever the trend to DAB & digital in general continues & Online (web radio) showing the highest growth. DAB listening is remorselessly closing in on the 50% number when the decision for switching off national FM broadcasting will be made, I suspect the DAB transmitter installation program will also be a consideration in that (its due to finish later this year, but I believe it to be running behind schedule)
