Snaic confusion

Posted by: blythe on 19 May 2016

I know Snaics have been discussed previously but I am more confused than ever having read lots of old posts!

Over the years, I've acquired various amps, including a 140, a 150 and a 175 three-channel power amp.

Amongst all of my leads, I have 3 x 4-pin and 3 x 5-pin Snaics.... Two of them black, one grey. What would they all be for?

I had thought that a 2-channel amp would come with only a 4-pin to 4-pin Snaic and that a 5-pin Snaic was for connecting to power supplies and the like.
As I say, I'm now totally confused and seek a nice, clear, simply explanation

Did the NAP175 really come supplied with 3x 4-pin Snaics??????

From FAQ's

NAPV175 - 2 x SNAIC4, mains lead, 3 x speaker connectors

Blythe, as Graeme mentions above, the forum FAQ tells all.

Many thanks - I must have missed that during my search...

I am however, somewhat bewildered that I seemingly have 3 x spare SNAIC5 cables.
My system is all connected and working and I don't have any equipment lurking about unused that I can think of.... Very odd...

I have one of those under my house. The snaic is long gone, but I like to think it discourages mice and chipmunks from getting too comfy.

Use it as cable dressing.

All perfectly natural... left alone & undisturbed, they reproduce.

I found two 'extra' ones in a drawer last year... I've separated them, just in case.

It's only ever the SNAIC5s that reproduce in my drawer (despite being placed in Ziploc bags). It'd be nice if the SNAIC4s got involved, just to even out the population distribution. Although, the Tibias in that drawer seem pretty fecund as well.

AFAIK, SNAIC5s are only delivered with power supplies. Have you borrowed power supplies from dealers in the past and perhaps forgotten to return the SNAIC5s?

Frank.

I've not borrowed any power supplies. I wonder if I've kept some from when I upgraded from Hi-Caps to Supercaps......
