72/HiCap/140 connections

Posted by: Monster on 19 May 2016

I am adding a HiCap to my 72/140. I am confused as to which socket on the HiCap connects to the 140. In the manual it tells me to connect to socket 2 on the HiCap, but on the connection diagram it shows the 4 pin Snaic connecting to socket 3. Can someone please clarify? The serial number of the Hicap is 90395. Thanks.

I'm sorry, but I posted this in the wrong place. Could someone please move this thread to the Hi-Fi Corner? Thanks.

You can connect to any of the three DIN4 output sockets - they all carry the same stereo pre-out signal when powering a pre-amp like the NAC72.  Just avoid the one that (in the earlier Hicaps only) also carried single-rail 24V DC power.  It is marked on the back panel.

Thanks for the clarification Richard.

It's best to use the Hicap socket nearest to the one that connects to the preamp, as the signal path is shortest - I imagine that means socket 3.
