Tellurium Q Ultra Blue mains cable

Posted by: Finkfan on 23 May 2016

For my birthday this year, my fantastic family have got me a TQ ultra blue mains cable.

I plugged it in to my CDX2 last night and, whilst my children slept, I had a little listen at low volume. The difference was clear. Lower noise floor, more 'air' around instruments and vocals. A cleaner, clearer presentation all round. Amazing what a decent power cable can do.

Looking forward to having a good listen tonight.

I also prefer the TQ Black speaker cables  then the Nac a5, it would be interesting to compare the TQ ultra blacks with Super Lumina?

Regarding a TQ black mains cable.....it's gonna be very very good, I've not yet come across any TQ product that's not sounded exceptional...

Wenger, your 250DR and Sopra 2s are begging for some SLs to tie them together.

Go on, have a listen.

I would love to have a home demo and compare with the TQ ultra black......may just have make a call

Would like to hear the outcome of that bake-off!

I have been so impressed with TQ Black cables, I have the speaker cables and an interconnect on my Hugo which I think is better than the much more expensive Chord Anthem Reference I have on my tuner.  I wasn't impressed with the run in period for the interconnect which was awful but once it settled it was excellent.  Mains cables may be something to look at at some stage

Hi Dayjay. Yeah the burn in time for the TQ cables is an age! But well worth the wait. My initial impression of the Ultra blue on my cdp is excellent. I'll give it a month to burn in and settle down. My try it on my SN to see what effect it has there.

And I thought my Powerlines were chunky. That looks more like a sea lion.

Don't tell me.....he plugged it in and everything just 'snapped' into place?!

I love the fact that the cable is so heavy it needs a support under its wall plug....

Looks like they can morph into speaker & IC cables,  scary

Some might say that they could perhaps just interfere with domestic harmony a little...

Forget a snaic, clearly what we all need is a python!

I think that curtain may introduce some micro-vibrations into a cable...

I have seen a similar cable used by the local electricity company, it feeds most of the town

There are two actually - the other one feeds the dedicated audio mains....

Just a quick update. After 6 days of being plugged in the sound seems to have gained a little weight. Seperation and new level of detail is amazing. Music feels a little quicker. Changing back to the original power cable the sound appears bloated and sluggish in comparison. What a fantastic cable. I'm sure it will continue to improve over the next coming weeks as burn in for TQ cables is notoriously lengthy.

A very happy Finkfan.

Misa happy for Finkfan

Thats great news, and as you rightly say it will only get better...

Just thought I'd try the TQ cable on the SN and the standard lead back on the CDX2.

With the TQ on the amp the improvements are better separation, slightly more clarity and slightly less of the boomy bass that sometimes presents itself. Clearly a better cable the the standard and a worthwhile upgrade.

Switch the TQ back on the source (what it's designed for) and the improvement is vast. More space, more clarity, more air, better balance and the biggest improvement (to me) is how it moves the vocals forward in the soundstage. Before the singer was in the background almost fighting to be heard over the music. Now the vocals are front and centre and star of the show.

I have no doubt another TQ cable on the SN will be another leap forward. I'm sure what these cables do won't be to everyone's taste. But for me, these are amazing!

You know what this means? Answer.... order another mains cable

Absolutely Wenger. Must get 'office' finished first! Currently reworking my budget after a few excellent suggestions.

I've just given in to a moment of weakness and purchased a TQ black mains cable from another forum member. Thanks K. Can't wait to hear it on the SN and hear how well it works with the Ultra blue on the CDX2.  Delighted to then have a full TQ loom. Will post my findings soon.

I hope you'll post your findings, I'm contemplating, at some point, a power line for my SN2 but there is a niggling thought to get a TQ Black to match the rest of my cables

I definitely will DAYJAY. What mains cables do you currently use?

Posted on: 05 June 2016 by dayjay

Just the standard Naim cables that came with the devices
