Matching of NAC282 with 250DR, 200DR and 200

Posted by: ryder. on 23 May 2016

For those who own the 282, I would be interested to know if there are tangible or appreciable differences when the 282 is matched with the 250DR, 200DR and 200. The natural partner for the 282 is of course the 250DR, but I notice that there are folks who are equally happy with the 282/200. With demanding speakers, the higher output of the 250DR will surely be beneficial and will likely be an improvement over the 200DR or 200. However, what about easy speakers? If there is a difference between the 250DR and 200DR/200 when easy speakers are used, that may suggest that the 250DR is voiced differently from the 200DR and 200 and it is not so much on power output?

Any information or thoughts would be most appreciated.

Interesting Demo - equally I find the pairing with my Contour 1.8s excellent.  But I'm just starting to seriously seek new speakers.  I'll report findings.

DemoG - what is your source?

I did a demo of 272/250 DR with Sonus Faber Olympica 2, and sounds fantastic to me, no issues with sounding bland. Sounds like real music. Highly recommended this combo !

I also have Dynaudio X16, and with my 282/250 DR this combo sounds very musical as you said with focus 160.

Hi Analogmusic, I am using NDX as my source.

I am using the older Cremona Auditor (Not the M version). The Cremona just doesn't have the musicality that I experienced with the Dynaudio F160.

It could be that the Cremona is harder to drive but Dynaudio are not that easy to drive as well. This was the primary reason that I upgraded from a Nap 200 to a Nap 250. I needed an amp that gives me more control.

I guess it could boil down to the age of the speakers (quite unlikely since my McIntosh xrt 18 are still running very well).

Seems the Olympica 2 is a newer design from SF, different voicing from the older Cremona.

I don't think the 200 would have any problem driving the older Cremona.

Is your ground switch on NDX set to chassis? any other Naim sources connected to the preamp?

Try a Dynaudio Confidence C1 Platinum The voicing is just amazing.
