Qobuz crackling sound

I am trying to stream via Qobuz in CD quality from my laptop to DAC using the windows application. There is a WASAPI mode and a WASAPI exclusive mode. From what I understand exclusive mode is the way to go for bit perfect transfer to the DAC without other apps being able to interfere with the sound. I cannot get the WASAPI exclusive mode to work properly. It crackles during playback. I am using a Musical Fidelity V90 DAC into a NAC62/NAP180. I have tried increasing the buffer size and cache but it makes no difference.

If I switch to other (I assume non-exclusive)  WASAPI mode for my DAC listed in the menu it doesn't crackle, but I can adjust the volume in the app which I assume means I am not getting a bit perfect signal into my DAC and the Qobuz application is modifying the signal which I don't want.

Any ideas? I am trying to get to grips with hi definition online music options, but having very little success. Tidal would not work at all with my DAC. I guess there is no other high definition service to try apart from Deezer Elite, but I don't want to have to use Sonos.
