Older Supercaps vs newer

Hi - I want to replace my Hicap DR with a Supercap. I see quite a few older models that I could afford to buy and get serviced (either olive or black 1999), but will these be a good as getting as later post 2002 model? What if any are the differences? I'm not thinking of DR - can't afford. Also what is/is the Supercap II and improvement also on "S1" ?

Main changes between the Olive and the later Reference/Classic Supercap were the better sounding switch and casework. Also bear in mind that while a Reference/Classic Supercap can be upgraded to DR spec, an Olive unit cannot.

Tried a serviced olive against a newer black cased one, both around 5 years from needing their next service, so as fair a comparison as you could get. The difference was clear at the time. The black one was noticably better.
