Apple WiFi updates?
Posted by: Dr_J on 27 May 2016
Have any [Mac/iThing] users noticed an improvement in the Naim IoS App's ability to identify Naim Muso, streamers, etc. following the week's firmware updates for Apple Airport Express, Extreme, Time Capsule etc?
From my own experience with Muso and SU, the Bonjour service was less than reliable, but has improved dramatically following the recent updates.

It's hard to be sure about these things, but the Naim app and N-Serve do seem to respond quite quickly now, so maybe you're onto something? I have an Extreme, and 2 Express as range extenders, and they are certainly behaving themselves since the update.
Nope - the software upgrade buggered my old Time Capsule instead - hard disk failure. Had to get a new one...
Luckily it was only used as a network extnesion, so got Airport Extreme.
All Apple wifi system - Airport Extreme, TimeCapsule, Airport Express - Naim app seems much quicker since the update. NIce.
New Airport Extreme installed after my old Time Capsule (the flat one) 'expired'.... Airport and Time Capsule updated to firmware 7.7.7. All in order now and working well.
Although noticed that some of the iPads seemd to loose our wifi - had to type it in again.
Ive noticed the need to re-enter my iTunes / iCloud password multiple times since that update. Maybe it is two unrelated "things." IE could be someone trying to hack my acct. The LinkedIn password breach was bad.
Bart - had the same. Multiple password entries on my Mac just to run a software update.... I found the latest incarnations of iOS and OS less stable than before....
Yes it's probably just the 'iCloud password bug' that's finally hit me. bleh
Nope, but it did stop me from printing until I had updated my Extreme and Express

I've generally had good results with newer Airport devices, as well as old ones, although others might disagree. For example, here's a quote from an eminent Naim person who might beg to differ:
'My old "pancake" Extreme that I ended up leaving with a customer was actually completely reliable - unfortunately it was actually mine and when work replaced it with a current spec one I had sooooooo many issues with WiFi performance I retired it with a couple of 12 gauge cartridges (ultimately extremely satisfying) and went back to my old AirPort Express which has been absolutely solid ever since - perhaps it saw what happened to the Extreme and doesn't want the same fate...?'
Hopefully the author of this won't object to me quoting him, or I might end up having two posts moderated on the same day!
