Better Telly with better mains block...

I switched form SKY to Virgin TV a couple of months back and frankly have been disappointed with picture quality from new box. Lower contrast and less clarity in short.

Today I swapped over from bog standard mains block to a Missing Link one no  longer needed in listening system just on the off chance and hey presto, what a difference! Lovely picture now. This may not come as a surpise to some, Others may view as hokum but for me it's been a marvelous revelation. Brilliant

Absolutely not hokum. I tried a Chord Power Chord on my tv years ago and could see the difference. It was subtle, but definitely there. I paused the picture on a bluray and switched over cables. I posted this on the AV Forum.com and one of the replies was "I presume you're going to photograph the evidence and post it on here?",  which made me laugh a lot. If you don't know why, it doesn't matter.

The first time I upgraded my mains cables beyond 'out of the box' wires was when our children were very small and still at the CBeebies* stage and my system was non-Naim and more Home Cinema than Hi Fi. My wife only acquiesced to the purchase of mains cables due to the 60 day money returns policy offered by the supplier. When the new cables and mains block were installed, powering the whole system, neither of us could hear or see a huge difference but a few days later, my wife pointed out the tweeting birds in the background of the Fimbles* that we'd never noticed before. Shows you what our home entertainment consisted mainly of in those days but also how improvements can make themselves known in unexpected ways.

Based on this, I would hereby like to stake a claim for 'most unusual test material ever'.

* For those of you not acquainted with either, I would recommend blissful ignorance. If that isn't your style, try this:

If you can hear the birds in the background, then your system's better than ours was before the new cables!
