Upgrade my unitiqute with poweramp

Posted by: Novichok-1977 on 31 May 2016

Hello from Germany. I have a couple bought Dynaudio Audience 42 speakers. My Unitiqute is not powerful enough for Audience 42. Now I want to buy an extra Power Amplifier . Question is either needed nap - 100 new or nap - 200 used? Or possibly old Power Amplifier nap - 180 olive?

thanks for Answers

My Qute was transformed with a nice old olive 250. Great value, might get one for around £800-900 UK if you get lucky?

I would wonder if adding a NAP 100 is that much of a step up from the built-in amp.

I dont no, unitiqute (Black) with old 250(Olive) whether this is good?

which would RCA(qute) DIN(NAP) cable you recommend me? then I could try my NAP-140 with qute

That is what I do with my Qute. The 250 is 20yrs old or something but I can assure you works perfectly well and gave the sound a lot more control and heft.

I'd go for a 200 so that it matches the Unitiqute better now, and will match any future upgrade to a 172/272/whatever else.

When I say match, I mean visually as much as anything else. But one would also have thought the more modern models would be a slightly better match for each other sonically as well.

Flashback cables can provide a decent quality RCA-DIN cable at a reasonable price. You can always upgrade to a more expensive cable later on if you want to.

hi,

tried nap100 and 200.

The former I would avoid, the latter  will lead to ditch the unitiqute sooner you could think of.

I were you I would stay with what you have , no messing with fancy mixing as it has its own sonic signature and replace it once you have funds enough to fund a complete unit.

I ran a Nap100 on a Qute 2 for a time; it's a good little amp and a bargain at its price but I'm not so sure it's a big enough step on what the Qute does.  It's just enough to whet ou appetite but not enough to quench it.  I'd go for the 200 which will have more impact and give easier options for future improvements

that would of course possible . Only I'm happy with quote , just a bit more power would be optimal .

then, uniti2 or superuniti ,the former will cost you less, the latter will sound much better.

Remember ,the separate power amplifier will give you more but not a balanced, let alone sonic signature.

Until you give it a better source and preamplifier ,you'll be looking forward to ditching the once beloved UQ ,rest assured of it.

I dont Need CD Player. Superuniti maybe My next Step But more cost as used NAP-200.

I ran the qute2 and nap100 for a year also with some fairly power hungry speakers. I eventually upgraded to a more powerful Odyssey amp, but if a used nap200 is available to you I think that's your best option.

I tried Dyns with my NAP100 and think that they will appreciate the extra power and control of the 200.

Qute and 200 is a nice sounding combo, and can be fine tuned by alternative interconnect. I changed to van den hul 3t the sea which gives more extended bass, treble and refinement than the standard Naim cable.

The qute is perfectly capable of sounding great with higher cost amps (which is not to say that a later source upgrade wouldn't bring benefits, but I don't think you'd feel forced towards that).

I could bay NAP-200  first and then as step two upgrade my unitiqute with  172 or 272 if it is necessary.

Dynaudio are designed as constant 4 Ohm load speakers, so NAP 180 or 200 should be fine

Even tried NAP 100 with the X32 which is a 4 ohm, big speaker, no problems.

Now depends how much you want to drive it, remember that Naim amps are for domestic usage, and not to be used for stadium concert levels, which will make you go deaf early in life and annoy the neighbors.

Hi, I just upgraded from a Unitqute2/nap 100 combo to the UNitiqute2/Nap 200 combo and noticed a big difference. The 200 was able to take my Kudos X2 to a new level of depth and presence that wasn't there with the 100. I sold my 100 for around £400 which was 3 years old, but bought an older 200 ( I think 8 years old)  which had just been fully serviced for around £650, so not a bad £250 upgrade.

Happy with the change from 100 to 200, but it does take up more space.

Thanks, 200 is best Choice
