Audirvana plus audio units
Posted by: Peter Dinh on 03 June 2016
I was wondering if anyone could share the names of AU plugins they've used with Audirvana Plus to enhance their listening experience?
Thanks,
Peter
ParametricEQ, with settings of: frequency 49Hz, Gain -7db and Q of 12. Helps tame the most problematic room node in my setup.

Interesting! parametric/dynamic EQ, if set correctly, can add much more than a new amp or new expensive cables...
FYI, I fattened the response with the 31 graphic equalizer settings, and overall, it resulted in a significant audible improvement.
I've tried a few but didn't like the result, felt it flattened the music and I got better results moving my speakers and tuning the system. However, I am currently experiementing with the DSD upsampling in the latest version and that seems very promising indeed - not sure if I have heard my digital music sound better to be honest although sq also appears to have improved without up sampling too.
The trick is to get it right, and we could save $$,$$$ by doing just that
I use the Parametric EQ for room correction, and it really helps enormously to provide harmonic balance and natural timber of instruments and voices. In the most recent versions 2.x of Airdirvana+ the compromise to "digital artifacts" is imperceptible (to me). The improvement in tonal balance and bass has caused me to abandon UPnP streaming.
I have to say that the improvement in sq on 2.5.2, especially with DSD upsampling is astonishing. It took some time to pick the right filter for my Hugo but the quality is amazing.

Interesting, dayjay. They did claim sound quality improvements, but I have not been to their forum to investigate. I upgraded to v2.5.2 about the same time as I shipped away my 250.2 and put the UQ amp in the system (per another post) - so maybe 2.5.2 improvements account in part for why I was so impressed with the UQ. What did you hear in the v2.5.2 update?

First time on The Streaming Forum, i'm following you Charlie, because our gear is the similar. Dayjay, you appear to be after SQ, without raping one's bank account! Gentleman, I don't have a clue about streaming, just trying to enter it on the Cheap.
Hence, I just want to know, am I on the right track ? Plan to wire my Home with Ethernet at all three hi fi locations.
But the Music Room is the one of Concern, Naim Gear.
Audirvana Plus > MM > hiFace Two converter > Naim DC 1 Digital Connector > Ndac / Cdx2 > 282 > SCDR > 3 x 250.2 > Briks
At the moment I guess I'm kinda sorta streaming, Airport Extreme to Airport Express, Living Room, Family Room, and Rec Room!
iTunes is all I know, and aware of, buy songs for a buck, and Rip CD's to Library and Can Create countless numbers of Playlist! FREE!!
But under the impression, that the above Route will improve SQ, close to My Cdx2 Playback! (Wireless to direct connect)
Records = TT = Analog
CD's = CDP = Digital Redbook = 16 bit/44.1khz
Streaming = H Res 24 bit/48khz, 24 bit/96khz, 24 bit/192khz, 32 bit/384khz
Also what does this mean:
The new version of hiFace, named simply hiFace Two, offers the same streaming capacity as the first model at 24bit/192kHz, in asynchronous transfer mode (meaning that the interface and not the computer dictates the rate of the data transfer). Additionally, compatibility with ASIO mode is included for further versatility. There is no need to install any driver if your playback system is based on a Mac or Linux computer but, as usual, you will need to do some downloading and installation in PC platforms if you want to use sample rates above 24/96.
Thanks In Advance!
I'm a little slow to this Streaming, so take it easy with me, just looking for general direction before spending the bucks!!

Hard to explain. I never up sample usually and I felt the SQ was improved without upsampling with improved clarity and presence. I tried upsampling to DSD on a whim and played around with the different filters which all gave a different presentation. I settled on A3 which gave good base and increased clarity and 'realism' but other filters also gave improved but different presentations. I have had some skipping problems on 24 bit files which is down to the buffer which I will change when I get a minute and I have noticed the fan on on the MM which I will monitor but the SQ really is excellent

With the latest firmware for the NDAC, try upsampling PCM ->DSD128/B3 and see if you can hear any improvement.
