Remaining Uniti issues

Posted by: Alamanka on 06 July 2011

My love story with NaimUniti is still going on, especially since the release of the version 3 of the firmware.

I would like to report a remaining relatively minor usability issue related to information display.

- When pressing the "i" button on the remote, the information on the front panel is only displayed for a couple of seconds. This is too short. It would be nice to let the user control the duration. A possible way for this would be to leave the information displayed until the user presses the "i" button again.

All, please feel free to add to the list. Thanks

Just press the Display button instead - it will stay on for as long as you have configured under Settings.

If only all problems were so easily solved

Chinese, Korean and Japanese languages are not supported. Huge pain that I cannot have all music files centralized on the Naim Uniti because of the stubbornness of Naim development engineers!

Right, I bet they're doing this on purpose just to annoy you! Or it could be that actually there are some issues you are not aware of. As always Naim will do things when they are ready, get in line, there is a queue around the block with a few other chaps waiting for their issues to be resolved.

Unless of course you feel that you are the center of the world and should get priority treatment. If that's the case you could always jump up and down, get a fit, sell your Naim gear and tell all your friends to go for Olive and Bladelius. Oh wait, didn't you want to do this a long time ago?

Huge pain?? Some 10 million people are said to be affected by the Horn of Africa's worst drought in 60 years. There's real pain and suffering for you.

Sorry for being so blunt but take chill pill, relax and enjoy your music!

If the next Uniti firmware contains a fix for the drought in Africa, I will be impressed.

A little Fela Kuti on repeat might cause it to rain.

Can't deny I have enjoy the music on it for the last 5 months since I bought it. However, every time when I want to play Chinese or Japanese songs, I need to switch back to my Apple TV. Very inconvenient. Of course I am not the centre of the world, however Naim had sold quite many units in Asia. Just wonder why they still have not work out the upgrade firmware for multi languages!

One of the reasons might be that Naim after all is a moderate sized company and as such only have limited resources to work on any given project. They have launched a great number of new products over the past 18 months or so. I would imagine that by entering the digital audio space they have also gone through quite a steep learning curve. Plus there are surely new products being worked on as well. Considering all this I think Naim have done a stellar job with the range of new products launched. Yes maybe some aspects are not perfect yet but they'll get there in the end.

As always there are at least two ways of looking at things, you can either assess your situation and come to the conclusion that you are missing something or you can look at what you got and be mighty chuffed about such a great product. Or as one of your fellow countrymen once wisely pointed out "Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without" (Confucius 551-479 BC).

Personally, if the NaimUniti would ONLY support Chinese characters, I think I would get a little bit annoyed and possibly 失意

真的嗎?

Really not expect Chinese support any time soon
