A true inspiration, an icon......RIP....

... and a recording artist too. RIP!

Some said he was conceited.  Well, if so, he had much to be conceited about. What a massive personality as well as sportsman. RIP

I have posited that in his time he literally was the most famous person that ever lived. Even tribal people in Africa, with zero mass communication, knew of him.

Unfortunately for me he can never be the "greatest heavyweight of all time", because the greatest heavyweight could never have lost to a total chump like Leon Spinks. True it was due to his lack of preparation for that fight, believing he didn't need it, and he should have easily beaten him as he did the second time. But 100% preparation is part of being the greatest at anything.

Looking at this photo also puts an exclamation point on all of our mortality; he looks so powerful and indestructible that you cannot imagine him passing, but time is no respecter of persons...

 Boy we have lost some titans this year...

True that. I grew up with only 2  TV channels where I lived and I knew who he was. He was my idol, I had a 13 " toy figure of him when I was 6 or 7.
