Hoopla Slow Uploading Posts Since the Last Mantenance

Posted by: Mike-B on 08 June 2016

As per the title,  anyone else noticing this ???  It takes numbers of seconds before its done,  it seems like the PC or web line speed is slow, but its not the case for me I have a super quick PC & fibre optic broadband.

Can Richard/Naim enquire please.

Mike - you've just beaten me to a post on exactly that.
I tried different connections (ultra-fast broadband at home and work + LTE from a mobile device). All the same.
Can take up to 10 - 15 seconds to 'load up'.

I just assumed it was my iMac but iPad is slow as well.

6 seconds  to load this.

Edits a little faster

Yes, I've noticed that recently too. I initially thought it might be my broadband connection being slow.

Can you guys look down the Padded Cell page and let me know if the Topics from "Why is it so bl**dy difficult....." to the bottom of the page "Recurrent Phrases" are "Closed" or "Open"

On my machine they are "Closed" and I am unable to post into them.

I already raised this with Richard earlier today, but his version shows these topics "Open"

Cheers, Don

Shows as 'Closed' on my MacBookPro, Don.

Shows as closed on my iPad

Posted on: 08 June 2016 by dave marshall

Yup, all closed on my MacBook Pro also..................are you on a Mac too Don?

Possibly connected to the last Hoop.la site upgrade?

Posted on: 08 June 2016 by Adam Zielinski

I also found one of my older posts closed for no particular reason...

Posted on: 08 June 2016 by fatcat

And another thing.

A few months ago, I noticed my name had been changed to FATCAT.

THIS IS MOST UPSETTING AS MY NAME IS fatcat.

I went into my profile on the site earlier and rather bizarrely it currently tells me I'm from the Aland Islands!

Now I have nothing against the Aland Islands or indeed the Aland Islanders (I presume there must be some), however until readng this I had no idea of their existance.

Further, to add to my perplexity, it seems I can't even spell the name of my new home and hearth correctly as there seems to be a little circle above the A at the start of Aland, perhaps some kind of Skandinavian method of differentiating their A's from their elbows?

(Oh, and 14 seconds)

Hi Dave,

I'm on a PC with Windows XP Professional and using Firefox to browse Naim.

I'm not sure when the referenced topics became "Closed" but I noticed it around mid-day today.

So not confined to Apple.

This Topic "Closed" issue seems to have affected a few topics in the Home Theater and Music Room as well.

Are you a solutely sure you are not Norwegian? It's a nice place, so no need to be ashamed of it

My profile is so far intact...

I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one encountering slow loading here. I thought I my notebook may have gotten a an undetected bug. Hopefully it gets sorted soon.

Just checked at work and the issue of some Threads being prematurely "Closed" is apparent here as well.

PC running Windows XP.

Just when you thought it was doing well.

Any comments from on high?

Apologies to all for the speeling error in the title ...... maintenance.   Another thing to add to the Hoopla fix list - spell check function

........  If you look up mantenance on www urban dictionary,  it might brighten your day

Spell check works great for us Yanks. However, some "coloured" mother-language variations seem to somehow pass as acceptable in general usage on the forum .

Posted on: 09 June 2016 by Derek Wright

Spell Check is a browser function - for Firefox one can obtain a British English dictionary (other languages are available)

With iPad on 4G mobile connection it is closed. I fail to see how this can be device/connection dependenr, and have to wonder if possibly Richard's check went into a cache on his machine, or otherwise whether a moderator has special access making threads remain open longer.

i just looked, and with the exception of Home Theatre it would appear that closure  is set at 11 days (to the actual time) after last activity. HT is odd, as it is 2 months, and not precise based on last activity because one last posted on 5th April is still open, another last posted on 8th April is closed. Maybe a new automated cutoff has recently been implemented instead of possibly either a manual cutoff or something based on a criterion other than time since last activity, but HT forgotten in the process.
