Hoopla Slow Uploading Posts Since the Last Mantenance
Posted by: Mike-B on 08 June 2016
As per the title, anyone else noticing this ??? It takes numbers of seconds before its done, it seems like the PC or web line speed is slow, but its not the case for me I have a super quick PC & fibre optic broadband.
Can Richard/Naim enquire please.
This post took 12 seconds to upload after the publish button was touched - then 9 seconds to edit (update) the post to add this line
11 days isn't even enough time for someone to come back from even a 2- week holiday and follow up interesting things posted when first away...
There have been a few little bugs since the last Hoop La update. The update was mostly to the back end and saw some wholesale changes to how things are done. I can kind of see what they are trying to achieve - greater flexibility for moderators - however it seems to have put some settings out of kilter. The premature closure of topics issue is a tough one because I can't see it, although many others of you can... Am working on it...
I'm finding this even worse now, often just stuck staring at a rotating line of dots after posting on Windows and on IOS, when I back page after post it just gets permanently stuck on the same circle of death until I close or refresh page
It took more than 30 seconds for a post to go online.
Getting silly to a point of user unfriendliness.
Unlike their gear, the Naim forum comes with no warranty. Oh, and it's free.
What else have you got to do while your reply posts? Listen to music?
The forum went off-line for a while last evening & I was hoping it was Hoopla fixing the problem, oh well, hoop's dashed again.
Is it just me or are the post uploads back their normal quick speed now?
Let's see.
Hmm. It's certainly a lot nippier.
Glad it appears to have been fixed. Maybe Richard D can confirm.
Seems like Hoopla fix'um good
This from my iPad which was rediculously slow before, Now just few seconds pause & no wheel of death

Does anyone else get the impression that overall usage of the forum has decreased since the major change 15 months ago? Or maybe it's just less has been of interest to me.I imagine they keep some sort of statistics...

It seems to be in constant change & also cyclictic. And you are probably right the Hoopla format change caused some upset - not unexpected & it's still short of being user friendly. People come & go, newbee's ask getting started questions, then move to upgrades, then to the latest innovation, the old hands get fed up answering the same old questions, interest wanes. The cyclictic subjects include the latest fav-rav gizmo(s), stacking & plug in orders, best power strip & cable debates are the hardy perennials. ................ oh well its only a hobby & its nice that we have a forum with like minded friends to bounce ideas around with.
Detecting a hint of tiredness in your 'voice' Mike...

Yes, I reported it to Hoop La and they confirm they have now fixed the posting delay and the premature topic closure issues.

Ohh I wouldn't say that Adam ......... but as you ask. I'm not tired of any of the forum contents, if I'm not interested I don't read it. Its a forum & the contributors & contents that we have is as I would expect & thank goodness its a nice civilised place.
I am a bit tired of the Hoopla format tho', they seem to be missing a lot & given us stuff we really do not need. The general "look" is now OK but I really do not like the way it forces our writing formatting & ITR I do not see the point in the Formats especially as none do what I want them to: We don't need any of the Headings, we don't need the various Blocks .......... The double line spacing added when you hit return is a waste of space, I'm sure we are all able to add a double line space when & if we need to. All we need is SIMPLE - shall I spell that - Bold & Italic on the banner bar is OK & probably all we need considering this is a forum for adults.

Agree with you Mike. The forum user interface is not perfect and has some features which I wonder if anyone has actually ever used
But what it lacks in the elegance is more than made up by the people that post here and the general quality of discussions and help offered.
