Why does it sound slower after an upgrade?

Can anyone elucidate this?  Whenever a significant upgrade takes place, music appears to slow down.

I trust others experience a similar phenomenon.

(Maybe the brain's neural firing increases its speed and the world seems slower - I could entertain that hypothesis...)

To the OP - not in my experience.   I suspect what is happening is with upgrades comes greater resolution and bigger soundstage resulting in more music for the brain assimilate but it certainly has not changed pace.

I found the same thing. I was listening to Rudimental, and then did an upgrade of my hi fi, stuck on some John Martyn, and it appeared to have slowed down massively. It's beyond explanation. One minute I was tapping my foot and the next I was feeling quite somnolent.

I connected a HiCap (as opposed to an alternative Cap I've also been testing) to my SuperNait2 today.

Music seems to have slowed down a bit, but became more settled, grounded. Most intriguing....

When ever I upgrade anything if it is an upgrade then invariably the result seems to slow the music down. It doesn't of course or after my 45 years or so of improving my various systems they would now have ground to a halt or indeed be going backwards! It is one of the things I listen for when assessing if anything is actually better of just different.

Grounded is a good word to describe what the Hicap DR does to the SN2 imho.  Seems to give solidity and, after a while it is easier to hear more detail and timbre.  It's not a shouty change but it's not one I could now live without given the choice
