XS Series?
Posted by: achique99 on 12 June 2016
Just noted that the XS Series is no longer available in Naim website & all products begins with Classic series!
Select Products on the front page. Then select Integrated Player from the four options. You'll find the XS range there.
Chris
Thanks Chris. So now it falls under intergrated category and not seperates.
I don't get it either. Here's hoping the site's layout has been shown to be intuitive for those prospective buyers for whom it is quite possibly their first exposure to Naim.

Agreed the whole structure is kind of bizzar. Integrated Player still emcompasses seperate pre/power/power supplies so what is integrated about this? And Marque Seperates has SN2. Not sure if their marketing company really understands the products.
And this thing where each section shows just one configuration and you have to click to view the whole range could be very misleading to visitors new to Naim. They may not realise there is a much larger range available. The whole thing and the terminology have been overthought. They could have just done "Muso (all-in-one), Uniti (stereo-receivers), Si (entry level seperates), XS (mid-range seperates), Classic (high-end), 500 (flagship), Statement (overcompensating)". Trying to shoehorn them into 4 categories seems like a design exercise more than actually making any kind of sense.

Bizarre to say the least, but the structure of how it was put together caught my attention.
Believe me, it was a lot of time and thought put into this new website.
First Marque Separates, right below that classic, 500 series, and Statement, that's fine and dandy!
What comes to mind is the SL technology designed for the Statement, but equally at home with the 500 series and classic range.
(Note the order is inverted)
Next, the SN 2 listed under the heading of Marque Separates. Let's not fool ourselves, I've seen recent post, suggesting SL speaker cable which is nearly 50% the cost of a SN 2.
Remember, marketing is the main function of the Forum, and we do a fine job marketing their products.
Thus, the seed is planted, it's ok to spend 3K on IC's and Speaker Cable, even if surpasses the cost of a SN 2, Nac 202, or Nap 200.
You can throw that 10% rule out the window!
So one goes to the website, clicks products, clicks Marque Separates, and the first pictures that appear, Nac 202, Nap 200, and NDX, the level of gear which is obtainable by the Norm.
No surprise, the very next set of pictures the SL technology!
Part of Naim's upgrade route.
Trust me this is not in coincidental!
Hey, everyone else is doing it, might as well join the club!
Just think less than two years ago, we had Naim's 500 series, with Nac A5.
Allante93!
But, putting all the XS boxes under 'integrated systems' is simply stupid, no matter how much effort has been expended. And as for 'marque separates'....
..
It does seem to be a triumph of style over function. If we who know the product range find it difficult to find something, what are newcomers to Naim to think? Perhaps Naim just wants to whet appetites enough to send new customers off to a dealer.
It would on the face of it have been far more sensible to leave the products organised by type as previously and have "wizards" to help navigate the options for new customers.

Just checked that NAC A5 & Fraim Lite are catogerisd under Integrated while Super Lumina, Fraim & DAC-V1 are under Marque Separates. Perhaps Naim should also add another category i.e. Active system, which incorporates "integrated" & "separates" together. However it is only limited to obsolete Naim speakers.
Cheers

can't find hi-line, is it discontinued?
Still there, under Accessories / Cables / Interconnects.
right, bottom of the page.

I noticed that too but after the fiasco that ensued over a weekend when I pondered the meaning of the NAPSC going missing (which turned out to be just a website management error), I am hesitant to mention.
Given that the cost gap between a SNAIC and SL is astronomical, I would be surprised if HiLine went. It is the right priced cable for the classic range. But since I seem to be on a royal roll of being dead wrong about things lately, who knows.
It's confusing and more difficult to navigate making it much harder to find what you want.
^ Is that just because we've got Naim already though? I mean if you were broadly interested in buying some hifi, and somehow came across Naim and had a butcher's at the website, how would it be then?

The new site is just plain confusing compared to the version it replaced, at least to me it is.

That's the argument, I was trying to present.
First let's browse the products, instinctively inclined to browse the Marque Separates.
The first list that appears:
Classic Series
500 Series
Statement
The first photos that appears:
202
200

It's Called Marketing!
And if that's to rich for your Blood, the SN 2 will foot the Bill, even though it's an integrated unit!
And if you partake in our Statement technology upgrades, they can transform the SN 2, into a musical beast.
Of course, it's confusing to us, but we aren't the target!
I think we share the same view Chris!
Out!

Nah I think it is just confusing because whether you are used to Naim (us) or completely new, labels like "Integrated Player" and "Marque Seperates" are bit meaningless and then confusion starts when trying to understand how all in one player differs from an all in one system differes from an integrated player. It's not plain English and terminology already exists for these. It's marketing run amok.
- Uniti range are "stereo receivers" (no matter what name you want to attach to them).
- Si range are entry level seperates
- XS range are mid level seperates
- Classic is high end seperates
- 500 is flagship
Muso and Statement are something else entirely. The approach they've taken to try and split 7 ranges into 4 seems extremely counterintuitive for all audiences.
But I absolutely DO agree with the premise they they have tried to offer another view on the products according to range instead of type. I just think it was poorly executed.
I agree, it's just plane confusing. A golden rule or marketing is to have a clear consistent message. Now we have 'Marque' or should that be classic, etc? It's a mess.
One possibility is that the website layout is a precursor to a revamp of the Naim product list, not nessecarily new products but a repositioning or renaiming (pun intended) maybe.
To me an "integrated player" is a gigalo doing the rounds and "marque seperates" are small cakes bought in the round tent at the villiage fete.
