Football season 2016/17

Given that the fixtures are now out, I thought it would be appropriate to start a new thread.
Spurs looking even stronger than they did last season (when they choked at the end), but I don't see them catching the mighty Chelsea. Spurs need to play well to win while Chelsea win even when they play below par. That's a mark of champions.

Didn't they lose recently to Crystal Palace?
Three more points and four more goals.

Chelsea probably will win the league but i can spurs knocking them out of the cup, anyway on to more important things, a much needed win for the mighty hammers today, its getting scary down there

I would rather slice my eyelids off with a rusty razor blade while listening to Sting's lute album than say anything good about those cnuts!
That said, I think they will tonk us when they visit the Bradydome next month...
Well Kev, you are not going to like this either but I also have huge respect for.... Arsenal.

Going to the Emirates today to see Arsenal - Man City. Can't wait, always good to be with the City away supporters.Should be a cracking game. And a 4 pm kick off so more drinking time.
I was there too supporting Arsenal and thought it was a pretty good match the atmosphere was far better than it has been (last night at West Ham it was back to normal levels though) a very good point for us as most commentators had us down as getting well beaten not so good for City though! A top four finish is still on for us and am looking forward to the FA Cup semi final against City again.
Bob,
Yeah I thought it was a good game.Think top 4 is achievable for Arsenal with the game in hand.It would be pretty unthinkable Arsenal not making it.City -Arsenal in the FA cup should be a tasty game.
Whats your views on Arsen Wenger.....stay or go ?

Even after last night which was the most embarrassing match I have seen in a long time (yes even both legs against Munich) I think he should stay for at least another season in which time perhaps the right replacement could be found, the board will never sack him and I cannot imagine him leaving because of a few hundred fans waving placards that being said at the right and in the right context for Arsenal F.C I think he should be considering a move perhaps upstairs.

Yup. I meant more in terms of how they conduct themselves.

I suppose it's inevitable that the pundits and media immediately focus on the Wenger story after last night's result but it would be nice to see some give Palace a bit of credit for a good performance. Now six point clear of the relegation zone, it's looking like Big Sam will be successful in the job he was brought in to do.
A very good match report and pic from the above, Mike, in today's i by Jack Pitt-Brooke. Might be findable on The Indy's site, or even i's.

Now just dont go all spursie
Had a quick look at the BBC site earlier about the Man U v Chelsea. One of the comments, I paraphrase, 'When Herrera gets home from the game and he empties his pockets: keys, coins, phone and Hazard'.

Well done Pompey!! After four years at the bottom they have finally escaped. It's a great achievement, especially when they could so easily have gone out of existence a few years ago. It's wonderful to get some good news.
It's been a long and painful wait after a long and painful fall but.......we are (finally) going up!
PUP
Well done to Pompey enjoy your promotion from here in Sheffield..

Thanks, Chris. Looks like it could be a very good season for South Coast clubs. Apart from your lot strutting their stuff comfortably in the PL; Brighton have done brilliantly to get promoted to the PL after some heart-breaking near-misses; Bournemouth look to be heading for 3rd season in the PL, which is a tremendous achievement for a club of their size; and of course Plymouth are going up to League One with my lot. Oh, and let's not forget that Eastleigh are in with a shout of a play-off place too.
Listening to the radio when these fixtures came out, it was interesting that all the pundits were blithely carrying on as if the old order (Man U, City, Arsenal, Chelsea) had not been disrupted.
All the "important" matches were these four plus Liverpool. No mention of the likes of Spurs, Leicester or WHU.
I suspect the newspapers will be the same.
But is the old order still tenable? There is no proof that Guardioloa or Conte will adapt to thePL, or that Maureen is the right choice for the Mancs.
Everyone has much more money, and, because of Leicester's achievement last year, nobody is scared of the so-called big boys, all the "little" teams no longer "know their place".
It'll be the most exciting, open season ever and the "big boys" and their media supplicants won't have it all their own way. So, at the risk of making ourselves look stupid, anyone got any predictions?
