Tidal SQ

Well, it has been getting worse for some time. Flat, lifeless, weak, downright boring.. Spotify or even 320 kbps web radios are better for bounciness. I am not really sure if they deliver red book quality stream.
I'm very happy with Tidal full CD quality stream. Then again, I'm listening via Meridian Sooloos or Roon via Meridian endpoints, so I can't compare with Naim.
I am also pretty happy with the Tidal SQ most of the time on both my Linn Klimax Renew and Naim ND5XS/Chord Hugo streamers. For me (based in the UK) it's certainly significantly better than that of Spotify Premium, to which I used to subscribe.
In fact, when I want to listen to music on my Naim/Hugo DAC setup, I often listen to albums I own on Tidal rather than make the effort to switch to uPnP to stream the album from my NAS. The SQ is pretty close, although possibly not quite so dynamic.
I'm also happy with Tidal SQ the vast majority of the time on my SU.
Hal, you don't say what hardware you're using for Tidal, but assuming that it's a Naim streamer using the built-in Tidal input, and you have selected the 'HiFi' subscription, I would suggest that you exercise a little patience, and make sure that you keep your firmware updated......

Having said that, it really shouldn't sound worse than Spotify, so maybe something is amiss??
Can't comment on Naim but via Audirvana Tidal is hugely better than Spotify. Sounds like something is wrong to me
For those using the Tidal app with AirPlay or what not, toggling an album as Offline Content is a nice bump in quality.
I've had tidal running since getting home from work and not sure if it's my imagination but it's sounding better tonight than it ever has before to my ears anyway.
Unless it's my 300dr that's suddenly come to life
It is a UQ2 running on 4.4 fw and app is 4.8. I access Tidal via Naim app. Of course, subscription is for Hifi.
It looks like ongoing work aims at curing drop out issues that I have had almost none so far. Hopefully, it will also do some tricks in improving the sq, if at all possible.
The reason I mentioned the HiFi level subscription is that some have signed up to it, only to discover later on that their account was set to a lower level and they had to switch to HiFi manually.
Regarding firmware updates, although dropouts have been high on the agenda, current efforts are focused very much on sound quality improvements/changes, so worth watching out for.
Great news! Thanks.
