Rio has run out of money. Not the local olympic committee, the whole state.
Zika virus, drug scandals likely to keep Russia home, unfinished venues, pollution scandals and now this. The chronically corrupt and vampyric IOC will suck whatever residual value may lie in Rio and leave a desiccated shell. The poor will suffer the most.

I'm anticipating I'll be entertained.
According to water.org, 663 million people have no daily access to clean water and 2.4 billion live without a toilet. War and genocide? Choose your epidemic. While sad, such numbers don't really effect my sports watching on TV. Nor the fact that I drive a car to work or leave my Naim gear powered-up 24/7. Should the economics of the Olympic games ultimately fail I'll have plenty of baseball and (American) football to be otherwise entertained with. In the global game of socioeconomics and wealth distribution the Olympic games are likely a insignificant player.
