CDX2 puck problem!
Posted by: liam on 18 June 2016
I had my cdx2 upgraded last year by naim with a new mech vma1202.
I leave my puck in the player now as it doesn't have rubber feet on the new puck, when I pull it out sometimes the it pulls up the
magnetic ring on the transport where the cd sits between. Is this normal?.
Regards
Liam
If it moves the ring up and it springs back down this is normal. If however it pulls the ring on the transport up the motor shaft this will need addressing.
Yes I'm looking at the motor shaft pin.
You need the tiniest drop of glue on it and you'll be fine
I was thinking about that
You should lift one side of the puck first, rather than pulling it up vertically.
I had the same, & per FinkFan fix, I put two very small drops of superglue on opposite sides of the grove it sits in & pushed the steel ring into place. Rock solid thereafter. & yes per HH, lift the puck from one side to break the magnetic field
Totally agree gents. Lift off one side first. I personally never put the puck on without a cd.
Thanks all, I will do the fix then leave my puck off when not in use also rock the puck to the side to take it off in the future.
do these pucks wear? Do I need a spare
I'm a bit iffy about leaving the puck off with the Model-5 version, it's not needed IMO. The leave it off tip is a throwback from the previous puck models that had little rubber ring inserts & the rubber would flatten out over time under the force of the magnet & would not hold the CD properly.
You don't need to leave the current pucks off, as there is nothing to wear and it's more likely to get lost.
My puck is never on without a cd as there's always a cd ready to go in my cdx2!!
Try picking up the puck in an angle, let's say one side before the other. Try this before any glue please.
I also have cdx2 and that is the way I work the puck.
Regards. Erich

Nope - nothing to wear out there. You may need a spare one if you plan on loosing your current one ![]()
