They should have lived longer ....

All these RIP threads lately of famous baby boomers deaths. Folks reply with "sad", "tragic" and and "tragic" replies. Top four on my list, in no particular order:

1) Buddy Holly. Just 22 when he died with only three albums to his credit, yet had a profound musical influence on many of the most successful artists/bands of the 1960's. Certainly would have been a treat to hear him collaborate with his protégés like McCartney, Lennon or Dylan.

2) Kurt Cobain. Sealed his own fate yet very rapidly changed the face of music for a generation. An unsettled artist, I have to think he'd have burned grunge's candle in short-order and moved onto ever-evolving and successful musical explorations.

3) John Lennon. Would have been interesting to see how his angst versus positivity might temper with age and how his tender side would mature. And whether he'd still be one with Yoko through time.

4) Warren Zevon. Unabashed with his lyrics, straight forward with his vocal delivery. Possessed a unique ability to combine these qualities into lovely, austere, and sometimes haunting melodic tapestries. Died from cancer at age 56.
