Unitiqute partnering speaker suggestions required

Posted by: David Weller on 21 June 2016

Having just joined the Naim family, I have upgraded from Bluesound Hi Res streamer to the Naim Unitiqute.

I'm using the system in my office and looking for recommendations for speakers to partner with Unitiqute. Most of my listening is done in close proximity and at lower levels. I listen to mainly blues, rock music.

Looking for small speakers as desk space is a premium, so something like B+W CM1 (newer model) or maybe a sub sat system like the Totem Kin ?

Speakers can be sealed or ported as not to close to a wall. Desk is 2m wide

Any thoughts re the above or are there other speakers I should get to see and listen too ?

Yes you can undoubtably find more speaker for the money, but on my desktop with the IOTA's on Isoacoustic stands what bass there is, is tight and the ribbon speaker superb and they look super cool in white next to an iMac!

I use LS 3/5As in my study. I think they work well with Naim kit.

I'll go cheapo then and say Qacoustics 3010. I use 2010i on a UQ2 and contrary to expectations it makes a fantastic combo. Small and work well closeish to a rear wall.

I'd choose them over far more expensive B&W CM1 S2 any day (yes I've compared and to these ears the 2010i bested the CM1 in every way).

3010 are a grown up version of the 2010i.

Yes for 'on top of a desk' use, the Iota's seem the right size!  I agree too that the bass, that is there, is pretty tight.  I had room for bigger bookshelf speakers and went bigger.

The Dynaudios are more speaker, for more money.
