DV TKR Update...

Posted by: ken c on 22 June 2016

haven't been playing much vinyl till recently.  fortunately, the TKR is now fully run in and coincidentally, my system has also settled down sounding shockingly good.

don't quite know how to describe what i am hearing from my vinyl recordings -- perhaps 'spiritual' is closest?

unfortunately, this tends to interfere with work as i am tending to play records late into small hours everyday lately - not sustainable.

Another happy TKR user here with an lp12 resembling "Trigger's broom!"

Vinyl certainly offers a great listening experience - some of the MFSL Dylan releases sound fantastic and we have the Floyd reissues to come too!

Good news Ken. Audiophonic delight without those expensive SL wires. Sacre bleu! It sounds like your 'new' needle will soon be wore-up. The delicious magic of vinyl eh?

The black platter of 'Band on the Run' is currently spinning here. Ah; those glory days when popular music was recorded and mastered properly eh?

Enjoy, my friend.

John.

thanks John. to be honest, i am struggling to imagine what SL wires and DR upgrades will do. but one of my 500 amps is getting close to needing a service soon -- and some logic says that one might as well get it DR upgraded. and, you guessed it, once you DR one, well, you have to do the other in an active system... just as well Naim are completely overloaded with DR upgrades -- so fortunately, this is not an immediate issue anyhow, especially given the system is sounding so bloody good!

Hi Ken,

I must try to get a 'before and after' listen to Gary's 'triple 500' system. DR'ing three of the blighters should be pretty dramatic and I'm sure Gary will report here, accordingly. My single DR'd 500 continues to blossom in small steps, sounding sublime; four months after surgery.

Good listening.

John.
