Gustard U12 to nDac

Posted by: RobH on 28 June 2016

Plugged in the Gustard using a AES to BNC converter plugged into the BNC terminal on the dac, switched the Audirvana plus over to the Gustard.  Front panel light on the Gustard on ok.  No sync light or music.  Confussed switched everything back to optical input directly from the Mac Mini, fine.  Switched back to the Gustard and reselected the AES output nothing.  What have I done wrong?

What does it show on the Gustard? Normally, it shows up as 48, 192, d64, etc?

Idiot of the year here set the oversampling far to high!!!!!!! Sorted now.

Made the same mistake myself, but then I realized that the max sampling on the nDAC is 192.

How does it sound via coax? Does it sound better than optical?

Peter, the maximum sample rate of the Naim DAC is actually 768kHz, however, s/pdif via Coax is limited to 192kHz.

Correct Richard, I should have said via coax.

Peter its nice to know I'm not unique in my zeal to run before I can walk.  I've only had it running for a little while and really haven't had time to evaluate.  First impressions (very provisional, very detailed).  The cabling is pretty rough and ready at the moment.  I intend to add an Ifi Gemini cable into the mix.  Time will show!.
