Unitiqute 2 Bluetooth?

Posted by: Andy Barratt on 07 July 2016

Hi.

I've just realised I've never seen a Bluetooth option in my Unitiqute 2's settings. Am I misunderstood and there was a model that didn't have BT - or am I doing something wrong?

Does yours have a bluetooth aerial socket on the back?

Hmm it might have. Not sure!

I definitely don't have an antenna attached - I didn't realise I needed one. Will the option be suppressed in the settings if I don't have one attached?

Hi,

The UnitiQute2 was the upgrade from the original Qute and has a MiniUSB upgrade connector on the rear (and a few changes to preamp circuitry) and has been out for a number of years now.

Bluetooth was added to it about 18 months ago so if you have a recent Qute2 then it will have a Bluetooth aerial connector on the rear if it has Bluetooth...

Best Regards

Phil

No - if you have the Bluetooth hardware but no aerial attached then you will still have the option of Bluetooth but you'll just have no range.

I suspect you have an older (non-Bluetooth) Qute2 - when did you buy it?

That answers my question I think - that there is a non-BT model of the UQ2. I bought it used.

I´ve been using my UQ2 for some years now - and I haven't got my head around why one would need/use bluetooth... nStream is wi-fi, so is my harddrive if it isn't hardwired through an ethernet cable...?

Its useful for playing music, etc. off a phone or tablet.  I often used Bluetooth on mine for playing audiobooks and podcasts which are managed much better on the iPhone / iPad as well as knowing where I am in the playback from the car, etc.

Its also useful if you have guests who want to play you something they have stored on their device.
