Wimbledon 2016

Congratulations to Andy Murray. Without a doubt now the UK's best ever tennis player and I'm sure Fred would see him as a worthy successor. Totally in control for the entire tournament.

How nice to see him afterwards having a typical new parent conversation with William and Kate.

Congratulations as well to Heather Watson (and Henri Kontinven) and to Gordon Reid.

Agreed Eloise. A good day for British tennis.

Murray also gave a very classy post match interview, praising his opponent, thanking family and supporters, and saying kind words about the PM. A winner and a gentleman.

Yes perhaps parenthood has helped him grow up. Or maybe he was just in a good mood having pocketed the massive prize money. I don't think he would have been graciously thanking the world and his wife had he been knocked out in the first round to a non-seeder from Lichtenstein.

Murray has always been gracious in defeat.
