Thanks, folks,
yes, Hungryhalibut, you're right about the redundancy, but I actually like it:
The headline is a keeper: it saves me plugging and unplugging my headphones all the time.
I’m pretty proud of my bass extenders: I built them for bass support of my previous 805D speakers, and I now find they nicely do the job with the 804Ds, too. Essentially it's a pair of custom-made subwoofers: sealed box of similar volume as the kii three but with just one 8” woofer per cabinet. I use a modified snaxo to lowpass them around 50 Hz. Though JFRITZEN is right that this way of mimicking a sub is a bit complicated, selling it on would not give me a fortune, thus for the time being I keep this bit.
Sorry, I didn’t say that I use the Aries Mini with a 1TB SSD for music serving. I actually use a mac Mini for ripping, but prefer not to have it in the HiFi rack.
I slightly prefer the 2Qute over the 272's own DAC, thus sometimes I listen over the AriesMini / 2Qute into 272. If only the 272 would allow to loop-in an external DAC...
Well, thanks for helping me to realise that I've got a nice system after all, with quite some redundant pathways (2Qute, and vinyl) and a somewhat extraordinary bass management. Unless someone could make a case for downgrading from the Superline to e.g. a chordette Dual? (I wouldn't give up vinyl completely for now, but thanks for the tip on the Planar 3, B_Lund!).
Many thanks again,
Stefan
