Unitiserve - Delete all albums

Posted by: John Willmott on 20 July 2016

I'm currently cleaning up my US prior to selling it and can find no way to delete all the albums in the MQ folder except by deleting them individually with the browser app.  I'm a MAC user and the Finder doesn't allow me to delete them and neither does the n-Serve app.

The Downloads folder was easy .. but MQ not so ..

The documentation seems to indicate it's a one by one task .. does anyone know another route perchance ?

n-Serve for OS X let me delete multiple at a time . . . I'm pretty sure!

Hmm ... then I want the one you have because mine just presents me with the "Delete" option greyed out.  So, in fact I can't delete any with n-Serve.  Searching back through the archive here I found other instances where people were saying they couldn't delete with n-Serve either.

I think the "Delete" option with the n-Serve only works with albums in the Downloads folder and not the MQ folder.

Try logging via it's IP address or name in Safari to a so colled 'touch screen menu'.

If my memory is not failing me there should be an option to erase all data,

Thank you Adam .. that's where I am with the "can only delete single albums" .. IP address in Safari.

Home-->System-->Manage Music-->Delete Music .. with the options to delete for Albums and Artists .. but only individually.  There's no option for Delete All and the "Shift" key doesn't work for multiple choices.

Hmmmm.... Running out of ideas here.... One more: remove the enitre music store?

I'm guessing here because I'm nowhere near my US, but in N-Serve, try control-click on albums in the list on the L of the screen. Do you get a delete option there?

Nope, nada .. thanks gentlemen.

I'll put in an email to support .. maybe there's a secret handshake they'll tell me about.

Using the n-Serve programme on the Mac, go to your library, select 'Albums', then Command + Shift to highlight all albums. Right click and choose the Delete option.

Yup yup .. I owe everyone an apology for wasting your time .. and my own.  N-serve is the way to do it as everyone here told me but this is how I tripped myself up; for those that are interested.

I easily deleted the contents of the Downloads folder using the Mac Finder.  When I went to the n-Serve app the first album in the list happened to be an album that had resided in the Downloads folder .. it apparently leaves a stub (an empty folder) in the event you want to recover the album from the Recycle bin at a later date.  As the contents of the album/folder were empty, n-Serve greyed out the ability to delete the contents ('cos there weren't any) .. in my stubbornness I didn't try any additional albums in the list .. so just as Jan-Erik demonstrates above, that's the way to do it.

Thank you again gentlemen.

So that explains the greyed out delete option. Good to know.

If I may ask, what will replace the US ?

Jan:

I had to send the US back in June as it refused to rip CD's .. prior to sending it away I stood up a QNAP NAS running Asset to use whilst the US was on "holiday" .. I noticed no difference in sound quality but soon realized I had more than 3 times the value(cost) in the US than I had in the QNAP/Asset.

So purely from a fiscal perspective it seemed prudent to sell the US and buy more music.  In the 3 years I had the US it did have to go back to base twice which didn't exactly fill me with confidence .. there's a tad more rigamarole in ripping CD's now but nothing too onerous.

Remember also to empty the recycle bin.
