A stacking question

Posted by: Consciousmess on 24 July 2016

I have now received my additional hifi support levels, so will split my system into two - between the speakers.

I was mightily impressed with the separation of the 252 from the nDAC, so bought two levels. Here is the plan, thought I'd check forum thought before sleeves are rolled up:

Left Stack

252

Space

nDAC

Right Stack

Supercap DR

555 PS DR

300 PS

nVi

300 DR

I've sketched this, so that the speaker cables are kept low (coming out of the nVi and 300 DR).  I'm aware the 252 and nVi need space, but is the above stacking good enough?  I cannot put the system anywhere but between the speakers by the way.  Cheers!

Why are you planning on putting the 300 in the rack with the PSUs, i.e. the 'brawn' rack?  It would benefit from being in the 'brain' rack.  You would be better off having a four + four rack configuration, and for the 'brain' rack (usually on the left when facing it) I would go: nDAC on bottom shelf; 300 head unit; empty shelf; 252 on top shelf.

Sorry if I hijack the thread, but I've got almost the same system as thread starter. And four + four Fraim rack.

Right now (as the dealer told me):

Brain rack:                 Brawn rack:

NDS                             EMPTY

NAC 252                     Supercap

NAP 300                     300PS

EMPTY                        555PS

Should I put 252 on the top?

What configuration will give the best SQ and best cable dressing (nothing touching floor/Hiline hanging freely etc)?

So the reasoning is not to have Burndies crossing?

I didn't know the 300 DR was brains,  what with its current!
