Uniti 2 interrupted firmware update

Posted by: dschoem on 07 August 2016

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere on this forum. I need some assistance. I was in the process of upgrading my Uniti2 to the latest 4.04 firmware. The unit was running 3.15 at that point. I ran the update using a Windows 10 machine via the mini-USB socket at the rear of the Uniti2, and the installer programme downloaded from the Naim Audio Support site. Both the Uniti2 and the Windows 10 laptop were linked to a router and Internet via Ethernet. All went well, and the firmware started updating on the Uniti2. However, the Windows machine went into sleep mode after 10 minutes (yes, I forgot to switch off the auto sleep mode setting) , and when I woke up the PC I got an error box with the header: Update Failed: Incompatible Firmware Version. The error message in the box reads: "The product rejected the firmware version as it is incompatible. Please contact Naim technical support." The display on the Uniti2 reads: "Please update streaming firmware. IP 0.0.0.0  Need v13031 or higher." Any suggestions on how to proceed? My options are to retry or abort - retry only brings me back to the same error message. Should/can I abort and restart the process?

I would try running it again,  a mate of mine did the same thing & it was OK.   The Naim upgrade software seems pretty robust & I expect that if it does have a problem that prevents this it will tell you,  then Naim Support is your best option.

Thanks Mike - taking the plunge and trying that now ... keeping fingers crossed this won't end up becoming a bricking session!

And the good news is ... restarted the updater, and this time it ran faultlessly from start to finish. Uniti2 working perfectly, and Tidal up and running. Thanks for the advice.
