Rugby Union RWC and Season 2011-12

Posted by: JWM on 13 July 2011

Seems a good idea to turn over to a fresh page for the coming excitement!

We have got some months of RWC warm-up matches and the RWC itself, before we descend into the usual Wasps vs Tigers obsession

But to get us started, here's the fixture list for 2011-12 http://www.leicestertigers.com/rugby/fixtures.php

They played exceptionally well.  They'll certainly give Glaws a run for their money, then we'll see who's singing ' Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs'!  Nice to hear from you FF.

not much excitement on here yet for RWC2011...

Living in Auckland the excitement down here is definitely building.  Anyone want to make any predictions?

Overall consenus here appears to be NZ v SA  & AUS v ENG for the Semi's, then an NZ v AUS final with the All Blacks finally picking up their 2nd title, proving they can only win it at home...

Can't see NZ loosing anything until at least the semi's

England should (must) win their group & then will face 2nd group place France.

Consistency is something France have never made stick, they are either unbeatable or the opposite.  But France is the old enemy of the 6 nations, we both know each other too well, so it might be a tough game.

If ENG can beat France,   NZ v SA  & AUS v ENG is a good shout.

But would hate to see a NZ v AUS final, the risk of AUS winning will be just too much to bear. They need to get trash-canned before the final.

Well, not entirely unexpected

Argentina play their usual game, England just get the win

Odd, the number of kicks missed

What a dreadfull game and i thought that they were going to do us  , but gladly they brought the Tiger on and the game changed immediately  . So thats the first game won but only just.

Japan had a storming game against the French but the class showed through in the end, great game

Nice one deadlifter, Except i'm a Bok supporter who just happens to live in NZ    Actually the kiwis' turned me in to a 'Bok supporter but that is a tale for another time...

Needless to say this song is getting a lot of airplay on radio here!  The great thing is that even if the AB's win this year all it proves is that they can only win it at home

Just watched Wales v SA. I'd say Wales deserved to win that by some margin and with a bit more luck would have done. However, SA won the game and as Johnno keeps saying, it's all about winning when you are in the world cup.

Looking forward to trouncing Tigers this afternoon!

Fully agree about Wales they played a stonking game which left me disappointed at the end with their loss, as for the Tigers vs Wasps 20-17 to us at half time

Hello?

Posted on: 11 September 2011 by Chillkram

.............Tigers?!!

Posted on: 11 September 2011 by King Size

Well none of the big four were totally convincing.  The All Blacks had a strong first half; Australia had a strong second; while England and South Africa had to grind out wins against some very resilient opponents. Even Japan put up a good fight against France.

Overall a great first weekend!

Didn't get to see any RWC this weeken because of work commitments.  But by the sounds of it, that's possibly just as well...

Tigers...  Our scratch 2nds narrowly lose to a full-strength Chiefs and a cylinders-firing Wasps at home by 2 points and 6 points respectively, and score enough points to get a losing bonus from both.  Tigers have been back-to-back Premiership champs and finalists on the back of poor starts to the season, so all in all I'll keep the sack-cloth and ashes in the drawer for a while yet.

Odd maybe, but good to watch

Poetic Justice maybe for ripping off the All Blacks colours!  Sorry guys but the black strip the poms wore just did not look right, and a poor performance served them right for this travesty.

I reckon all of the top ranked teams had a nervous, and generally forgettable start, whilst the smaller nations played fantastic.

Finally a call on the local radio for the Welsh and Kiwi brethren to join together and lynch Barnes went down a treat this morning.

All The Best

Well it would be wrong of me to say that i were not disapointed about Wasps win on Sunday, but what comes around goes around and the Pests have to come to Welford road soon enough .

I did not reply sooner as i had to listen to the game on FM radio in Asda whilst shopping

Early days yet so not to worried

God bless you, George!

They couldn't have a rugby forum without me agitating! It'd just be a Tigers love-in otherwise.
