superline match for ortofon cadenza blue
Posted by: yoav1yon1 on 10 August 2016
hi,
I own superline+tc
my cartridge is ortofon cadenza blue
what would be the best capacitors matching for this cartridge?
thanks
eli
Start from an S loading and adjust if necessary.
Make sure VTA and VTF are satisfactory before experimenting with a cartridge loading.
Once you reach the value you like, it is well worth it to get a Z-foil Airplug for drastically lowered noise floor and distortion.
well,
sorry, but I don't really understand what you mean by "s loading"
recommended values are between 50-200 ohms but i'm no sure about which capacitors if any?
Naim S type loading is 470ohms
well, initially it's the superline I have. S TYPE.
so basically to start without plugging any resistor or capacitor, that's what you mean?
typical loading is around 100 to 120 ohm. basically you switch a value of resistor that is in parallel with a fixed resistor. example 100 in parallel 100 would loaded 50 ohms. majority of m.c with be fine at 100 ohm a very small capacitor will be used 2 nano farad

You should have a bag included with the Superline with some load plugs of different values, resistance load and also capacitance. One of the plugs is a 470R, and this gives you "S Type" loading. For specific values that fall outside of those supplied your dealer can help out.
Here's a useful thread to read through;
If it sounds a bit sluggish in the bass you need a higher load, too light weight and you need less, the cap plug can tame the top end. It takes a little time to settle, even my ex demo changed its loading requirements a little over the first month or so, so don't go ordering a Z plug right away.
With luck Frank will be along in a little while to tell you what his colleague used with his cadenza bronze.
wow, thanks for this reply.
just to make things clearer.
my system:
nottingham mentor/nottingham ace/cadenza blue/SL/TC
olives: 52/SC + 250
any insights would be much welcomed.
thanks
