SL cable in active system

Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 15 August 2016

Just replaced the 4 pin din connecting my 52PS to the SNAXO with an SL version.

Blimey it is good. Been struggling over the weekend to describe what it does because it just does everything that bit better. Cleaner, faster, more natural, more dynamic. it just sounds more alive-even a low volumes. I cannot hear a single downside. Flipping good value if you have an active system. Possibly an even bigger step in my system than switching the interconnect to SL.

My experience too Bruce! This wire proved rather special and almost got me on a slippery slope to full SL loom (cant afford it right now!!!)

fortunately, with just the SL interconnect and SL snaxo, the system sounds very good indeed -- and in fact continues to 'improve' in musically significant ways, so i am not under any pressure to go full loom right now.

there is also the issue of DR upgrades on the 500s -- but this is also on the shelf right now -- though i might actually eventually do this first. psychologically, feels better to upgrade black boxes before wires -- but i would not be surprised if this approach is flawed in some sense.

meantime, let me music flow on...

and congratulations Bruce !!

enjoy

Bruce

just trying to understand your System, I'm an Active Fan.

""NDS/555PS/PowerLine,/SuperLumina interconnect, 52/Supercap/PowerLine, SNAXO 242/supercap2, NAP 250 x 2, NACA5, SL2s.""

Is the  555PS Powering the Source Dred?

First Leg completed, SL 5pin to 5 pin  IC from NDS to 555PS.

Next:

Second Leg completed, SL 4 pin IC from Snaxo 242 to Olive SC, which powers the Nac 52.

I'm assuming Olive SC, Powering the Nac 52, If so can the older SCs, be Dred ?

Is the SC-2, Powering the Snaxo, Dred ?

Third Leg, TBD: 2 SL ICs, 4 pin to XLR , from SC-2 to Olive 250s.

SL Speaker Cable.

End Game.

Is that about it?

Sorry for the confusion

None of my kit has DR.

I should have written that a 52Ps powers the 52 not a Supercap. Its is the 4 pin SNAIC lead from this to the SNAXO that has been upgraded.

The interconnect (not SNAIC) I have already upgraded is from NDS to the 52.

Hope that makes sense

No confusion, just checking that I understand!

Your System fits my theory, good results, well matched System.

 Source- Nds/555PS/SL IC- Black Boxes

 Pre-Amp-52/52PS- Olive

Snaxo/SC2/SL 4 pin IC- Black Boxes

Amps- 2 x 250s- Olive

Nac A5

Not that my theory, is valued by others, LOL!

You have a Black Box front end, supercharged with an SL IC

Furthermore, this signal is preserved with an SL IC from  matched pre-Amp to an Black Box Snaxo, 242 shooting directly to Olive Amps!

Resulting in Beautiful high energy Clean Music!

Pumped out of Vintage SL2s!

Just a guess.

 Enjoy your Music!

Not planned this way but just the way it has grown. I've also been happy to buy s/h or ex dem Naim trusting both performance and reliability. The only box purchased new in my system was the SNAXO.
